You won’t meet a more convivial staff than at the Sheraton Sharm who deliver their particular brand of holiday with enthusiasm, courtesy, good humour & friendliness. Everyone we met was only too happy to ensure we enjoyed our holiday and really everyone deserves a mention, but just putting it at the top of the review, we’d like to give a shout out to Ahmed ‘our’ friendly and attentive waiter who was brilliant at looking after us going above and beyond. Thank you so much, you made our dining experience exceptional, and it was a real pleasure to meet you. Viola who greeted us with a welcoming smile at the restaurant door, chatting & teaching us some everyday Arabic words of greeting and sharing some friendly banter. Mohammad Mustafa responsible for keeping our personal living space and the comfort of our room to the highest standard. 5 star service from each of you, thank you!
We booked the Sheraton Sharm Hotel through Easyjet for a winter ‘fly & flop’ relaxing holiday, from 6th — 13th November 2024, for some much needed winter sunshine and to round off the birthday celebrations for my husband. We arrived at the hotel after a short transfer from Sharm Airport (13km) in the evening dusk and were welcomed by the lovely young lady Receptionist, (I’m so sorry I didn’t get her name) who checked us in giving us all the immediate details we needed about the hotel, restaurants, beach towel pickups, WIFI etc.
Opening the door to our room (207) we were blown away by the perfect presentation of where we were to lay our heads for the next 7 days in a wonderfully spacious Superior Seaview Room. Beautifully clean, our room was prepared to the highest standard possible, complete with sculptured towels of 2 swans either side of a heart on the enormous bed! Additionally a celebration card was tucked inside the heart and & a delicious cake awaited us on the table, complete with plates, cutlery & napkins. In the morning we were greeted by the stunning view of the blue and turquoise sea, palm trees and a fabulous beach with a jetty to snorkel from which we did most days!
We dined in the main restaurant every day for breakfast, and all but once for dinner when we booked into the Lebanese restaurant which was a nice experience. My only comment here is that it stated some items on the menu were extra, we were All Inclusive, but really it was everything was an additional payment unless you chose the one set menu — which we did and it was delicious, so perhaps a little misleading.
There was a wide selection of good quality, tasty food in the main restaurant and we were always able to choose something delicious to eat. The chefs cooked, omelettes, eggs etc., to order at breakfast, and in the evening there was an assortment of meats/fish/BBQ on the large balcony area in addition to the buffet and again the chefs cooked certain dishes freshly, mainly pasta from memory.
The spa staff were really attentive but don’t expect a ‘like for like’ treatment as you would receive in a spa at home. We booked 3 different massages but we felt that the first and second massages were exactly the same really! Top tip, ask the person you book with to write down what you have booked on the receipt! Ask for light pressure or you’ll receive a Sports Massage! The Aromatherapy massage was just a pleasant cream from a tub, not personalised oils to choose from. All that said again the staff were lovely and maybe somethings were lost in translation. The jacuzzi was also a bit cold.
The hotel location on the beach front is perfect, not forgetting the Animation Team, Bar & Pool Staff and who worked tirelessly. We loved this hotel, the staff and the whole experience & for what we paid we feel we had excellent...
Read moreFrom the pictures the hotel look great, and in fairness the main hotel isn't bad. Unfortunately when I booked there wasn't an option to book the main hotel so on arrival we were put in the "resort" part of the site. We enquired at reception about moving to the main hotel and were told it was for members only!
The grounds of the resort are fairly nice with various swimming pools and bars, with one open until midnight.
We were in room 3133 which was massive and had a decent view over the Mantra pool. The size of the room was the only positive thing about it unfortunately, while the cleaning was adequate in terms of dusting etc. there were various stains on the curtains, mirrors, in the shower and on the mattresses, mine looked like it was falling apart. Speaking of the shower there are two settings, either cold (which wasn’t that bad after a hot day in the sun) or boiling hot to the point that it skin felt as if it was melting! The TV looked as though it belonged in a museum but we only used that once to watch the football so wasn't a big deal
One very big positive for this place is the staff, nearly always friendly especially Wasib who drove the bus around the resort in the afternoon and night.
The restaurant in the Resort was fairly good considering the food wasn't being cooked to order and the staff were very attentive and worked well at serving drinks and clearing tables. We ate in the main hotel's restaurant a couple of times and it was a complete shambles, the staff were working flat out but unfortunately the management / lack of organisation wasn't in place to effectively meet the demand for tables which was a shame.
The beach just outside of the hotel was lovely and the marine life just a couple of feet out was truly amazing
One last gripe which has been mirrored in nearly every review I've read about this resort is the size of the cups on the all-inclusive deal which are about 2 inches tall which allows a couple of sips of a drink before needing a refill, this obviously lead to long queues at the bars as people kept needing refills - again a very poor management decision. We got fed up with the small cups so bought 2 single JD and cokes which cost £20 (GBP)!!!!!
In summary the place is adequate, if I were to return it would be to stay in the main hotel or if some investment was placed into the Resort, and only if they addressed the issues in the main hotel restaurant and cup sizes. The staff were amazing but as mentioned I feel the management left quite a bit...
Read moreFirstly I would like to say the hotel was amazing with its layout, style and cleanliness, it was the content however that let it down.
On arrival at the hotel we were dropped off at the 'resort' which is more of a shanty town than a hotel destination and so you can imagine our disappointment. It was not until an hour of queuing (due to endless russians pushing in the queue) that we found out we had been dropped at the wrong destination and so had to get an extra shuttle bus to the right part of the hotel. Once we had checked in (at 8pm) we were told to leave all our suitcases and have dinner as our room was not ready!! We refused and after 20 minutes or so we were shown to our room. We however had to wait 10 minutes once in the room for our suitcases to be delivered as the hotel staff did not allow us to take them up ourselves.
The next disappointment was the 'all inclusive', which stopped at all bars, except one at 8pm. The one bar that did still give free drinks was only available on 8 or so cocktails. We were not allowed ice cream as it was for children only and so had to pay an additional cost for this. The al a carte restaurants also did not come under the 'all inclusive' as we had to pay for them, with a generous 15% off for being hotel guests!! The food at the buffet was average but not varied and there was not much choice and did not compete with other hotels we have stayed at in Egypt, though the freshly cooked food outside was good. The rep we had was a friendly man how ever timing was an issue for him, and to top it off he told us our pickup for the airport was 4.20pm when in fact it was 3.15pm! If the bus driver had not phoned our room we would have missed our transfer to the airport!! As you can imagine the staff on the transfer were not happy with us as we got blamed for being late and the other guests at other hotels were then late being picked up which caused them all to panic.
The room was spacious with a lovely view of the pool and beach, however the mini bar was disappointing as we were charged for any drinks we had out of it where as at other hotels we have stayed at they have been included in the 'all inclusive' bracket. As i said before the hotel location was amazing and staff on average were friendly and helpful, we were just expecting more from this hotel, as advertised on...
