A sweet retreat from the daily grind
Last time I visited Porto South Beach, a few years ago, it was just inaugurated a few months earlier. It felt like the ideal place to escape from the madness of Cairo, being less than two hours away from it, while also having the distinct advantage of comparative newness, compared to Porto Sokhna. Which was so overcrowded most of the year that it felt like running away from Cairo just to run into hundreds of Cairenes again all over the place. Just finding an empty square foot to stand in the pool needed a mixture of effort, luck, and lots of patience.
While Porto Sokhna was quite the madhouse, Porto South Beach was so recently opened to the public that they had only about one third of the place completely constructed, while the rest of the place was still under construction. There were just a few families at the time my family and I were there, we had the place all to ourselves. Besides the pool and the beach, there was nothing to do. This was Sokhna after all, no shopping centers nearby, no real city around. Just the resort in the middle of nowhere. But it was just what we needed. A break from everything. The lack of people was a huge plus. We enjoyed our time and were determined to visit again.
So, here we are again, in Porto South Beach today. The place is still under construction, maybe 60% finished. There's a huge aqua park here that's sadly not open yet. But the resort is still as deserted as before. Not that I mind, I'm traveling in Ramadan intentionally to avoid the crowds. The pool is nice, the weather amazing, and I still prepare my own food, as most reviewers said the meals here aren't good enough. All fun, just as I planned. And the cherry on top is, the prices are so low in Ramadan that it feels like a free trip. I'll come back for sure. Maybe that aqua park will...

Caution, this may have some strong words.
I CANNOT BELIEVE, How neglected THIS DUMPSTER FIRE of a place is, overall the rooms were the smallest, dirtiest, and the didn't even have anything good, none of the utensils were clean, the furniture looks to be 60 YEARS OLD. The rooms were scuffed, the walls were dirty, and the bathroom was so dirty that I wouldn't even want to enter, it also smelled very VERY bad.
Room service didn't do ANYTHING. They changed the dirty sheets and cleaned the windows, the sheets that they bring, (the ones that should've been clean) were stained. The room had hundreds of flies, and the room service got some spray for bugs, it's smell stayed all around, I was watching tv and then my 5 day stay, that I would say if I didnt LEAVE EARLY. The place barely took my 4-person family. The pool was half clean, there were so many things in it, EVEN CAUTION TAPE.
When we were checking in, a fight was happening, and we were so amused on how there was NO SECURITY. The people in check-in were THREATNING the people of DEPORTATION. THERE ARE NO CLEAN SERVICES. My father tells me, in his 40 years of going to hotels, resorts, chalets, he has never seen worse. I wouldn't go here even if I were paid to go, and I wouldn't wish this place upon my enemies.
I pray to Allah that this place closes down. THE ONLY REASON IT GETS ONE STAR IS BECAUSE GOOGLE HAS A SYSTEM THAT...
Read moreMy stay at Porto South Beach Sokhna was deeply unpleasant, and I would not recommend it. The experience was marred by numerous issues that management needs to address. The most significant problem was the state of the rooms. They were absolutely filthy, and many of the amenities were broken or non-functional. The windows were not sealed properly, creating a constant, loud noise that made it difficult to rest. The kitchen facilities were also in a poor state, making them unusable. The logistical aspects of the resort are poorly planned. The guest parking is located very far from the rooms, which is a major inconvenience. To make matters worse, the bags transportation provided is an old van, which is completely inadequate for a resort of this supposed caliber. Furthermore, the service was severely lacking. The reception area was clearly understaffed, leading to long waits and frustrating interactions. The employees we did encounter were unprofessional and unhelpful. Finally, the beach, which should be a highlight, was a major letdown. It's a very long walk from the main resort area, fully exposed to the sun. Once you arrive, the beach itself is mediocre at best, with a lot of rocks making it uncomfortable and unenjoyable. Overall, this was a terrible experience that fell far short of any reasonable expectation for a...
