A sweet retreat from the daily grind

Last time I visited Porto South Beach, a few years ago, it was just inaugurated a few months earlier. It felt like the ideal place to escape from the madness of Cairo, being less than two hours away from it, while also having the distinct advantage of comparative newness, compared to Porto Sokhna. Which was so overcrowded most of the year that it felt like running away from Cairo just to run into hundreds of Cairenes again all over the place. Just finding an empty square foot to stand in the pool needed a mixture of effort, luck, and lots of patience.

While Porto Sokhna was quite the madhouse, Porto South Beach was so recently opened to the public that they had only about one third of the place completely constructed, while the rest of the place was still under construction. There were just a few families at the time my family and I were there, we had the place all to ourselves. Besides the pool and the beach, there was nothing to do. This was Sokhna after all, no shopping centers nearby, no real city around. Just the resort in the middle of nowhere. But it was just what we needed. A break from everything. The lack of people was a huge plus. We enjoyed our time and were determined to visit again.

So, here we are again, in Porto South Beach today. The place is still under construction, maybe 60% finished. There's a huge aqua park here that's sadly not open yet. But the resort is still as deserted as before. Not that I mind, I'm traveling in Ramadan intentionally to avoid the crowds. The pool is nice, the weather amazing, and I still prepare my own food, as most reviewers said the meals here aren't good enough. All fun, just as I planned. And the cherry on top is, the prices are so low in Ramadan that it feels like a free trip. I'll come back for sure. Maybe that aqua park will...

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE IVE EVER BEEN TO!

Caution, this may have some strong words.

I CANNOT BELIEVE, How neglected THIS DUMPSTER FIRE of a place is, overall the rooms were the smallest, dirtiest, and the didn't even have anything good, none of the utensils were clean, the furniture looks to be 60 YEARS OLD. The rooms were scuffed, the walls were dirty, and the bathroom was so dirty that I wouldn't even want to enter, it also smelled very VERY bad.

Room service didn't do ANYTHING. They changed the dirty sheets and cleaned the windows, the sheets that they bring, (the ones that should've been clean) were stained. The room had hundreds of flies, and the room service got some spray for bugs, it's smell stayed all around, I was watching tv and then my 5 day stay, that I would say if I didnt LEAVE EARLY. The place barely took my 4-person family. The pool was half clean, there were so many things in it, EVEN CAUTION TAPE.

When we were checking in, a fight was happening, and we were so amused on how there was NO SECURITY. The people in check-in were THREATNING the people of DEPORTATION. THERE ARE NO CLEAN SERVICES. My father tells me, in his 40 years of going to hotels, resorts, chalets, he has never seen worse. I wouldn't go here even if I were paid to go, and I wouldn't wish this place upon my enemies.

I pray to Allah that this place closes down. THE ONLY REASON IT GETS ONE STAR IS BECAUSE GOOGLE HAS A SYSTEM THAT...

My stay at Porto South Beach Sokhna was deeply unpleasant, and I would not recommend it. The experience was marred by numerous issues that management needs to address. The most significant problem was the state of the rooms. They were absolutely filthy, and many of the amenities were broken or non-functional. The windows were not sealed properly, creating a constant, loud noise that made it difficult to rest. The kitchen facilities were also in a poor state, making them unusable. The logistical aspects of the resort are poorly planned. The guest parking is located very far from the rooms, which is a major inconvenience. To make matters worse, the bags transportation provided is an old van, which is completely inadequate for a resort of this supposed caliber. Furthermore, the service was severely lacking. The reception area was clearly understaffed, leading to long waits and frustrating interactions. The employees we did encounter were unprofessional and unhelpful. Finally, the beach, which should be a highlight, was a major letdown. It's a very long walk from the main resort area, fully exposed to the sun. Once you arrive, the beach itself is mediocre at best, with a lot of rocks making it uncomfortable and unenjoyable. Overall, this was a terrible experience that fell far short of any reasonable expectation for a...

worst hotel i have ever been in. ended up having to sleep on the floor - story below i have never seen service as rude, bad and lazy as here. to start with, the rooms don‘t seem to be cleaned at all. secondly, they did not provide any bed sheets or pillows or anything at all to sleep on for the couch - a standard in every normal hotel if you sell the couch as a fully functioning bed. so i went to the reception at 6pm and asked for it - they told me they will send someone to bring it. come midnight (6 hours later) and still nothing arrived. i call the housekeeping number given on the keycard (supposedly 24/7) nobody answers 4 times in a row. i call reception, they cannot find anybody who speaks english, are very rude to me in arabic, tell me to call housekeeping and hang up. so i call them again, get another agent who agrees to get me the bed sheets within 15mins maximum. half an hour later (its 1am at this point and i am almost starting to sleep while standing) i call again to ask for the status. guess what? it will be there in 15mins. in the end, it never arrived and i had to sleep on the floor - remind you the reception is 10mins from the room. you get the impression the employees are making fun of you manager next morning was also not helpful and said he will report it. well thanks for nothing

I honestly don’t know where to begin. I am still traumatised. This place is a pigsty it’s not suitable for humans. The day we arrived my baby had a terrible accident we rushed to the on-site clinic for first aid and let’s just say the “dr” on-site did not have bandages but still managed to charge 250egp. The place was filthy it had a hideous smell. The furniture is atrocious the fridge had mould inside it. The toilet was worse then a public toilet. I was so disgusted to sit on the sofas or the bed I had to put towels. We would have left the same night however due to having a baby with us it wasn’t safe to drive back late. We left in the morning. I honestly don’t know how this place continues to accept guests the facilities are none existing. There is no WiFi, the phones in the room don’t work. The cutlery and plates are filthy. The flooring is broken and is a hazard I witness people tripping on broken tiles. The shop in the resort is infested with mice. It appears since opening they have never fixed or changed anything, pure greed and absolute disregard to basic human needs, day light robbery. I will be reporting this establishment to the tourism authorities. Honesty run a mile and do yourself a favour don’t waste your hard earned money in this joke of a place. If I could give zero stars I would!
