Hotel y Restaurante Maria Ofelia — Hotel in Departamento de La Paz

This review can be a little confusing but I can try my best to explain it in few words. Why 3 Stars? I’ll say that at the end of my review. Best place to stay specially if you want to rest right after landing on your pleasure or business trip. The location is clean and lots of green plants in the property to make you feel in the natural place. One of the staff member named Luis was very professional and attended to our needs in the property, also during our breakfast in the restaurant another member was very nice and friendly during out meals, Her name was Zulma. Keep in mind that this hotel’s don’t do daily room refresh unless you ask for it, other than that if you are staying 3 days in make sure that you ask for housekeeping to refresh your room or will be the same after you return to your hotel room after going out for a dinner or a meeting. Because of this issue about rooms refresh I went to ask one of the ladies at front desk to have a few towels and shampoo for my room and she said that they will deliver it to our Room soon and they never give us the clean towels or amenities like toilet paper and shampoo for the rest of our accommodation. 3 stars why? Here is why, during my check out I went to thank the staff in the reception desk there were a lady and one old man including Luis, I was very happy during my checkout, trying to forget about the towels and other stuff missing in my room, Luis Also was there and he was checking with me about my stay, but there was the old man who was seating behind the counter this man was not friendly at all or welcoming guests a least saying thanks for staying with Us, maybe he’s the owner or the manager of the property. The accommodations were ok, comparable to motels found in the States. Notably, the beds were exceptionally clean. The bathrooms could use attention, unfortunately it smelled like a urinal. We had to close the bathroom door as the urinal cake smell wafted through the room.

The service was commendable; the staff exhibited friendliness and integrity. An incident occurred when my mother inadvertently left her iPhone on her bed. Unfortunately, we were unable to return for it, as we had already returned our rental vehicle and checked in for our flight by the time she realized her phone was missing. Fortunately, the staff demonstrated kindness by retrieving the phone and safeguarding it for several days until a local friend could collect it. We are immensely appreciative of their assistance!

The establishment's location is advantageous, being in close proximity to the airport. However, I recommend inquiring about the most efficient route to the airport, as there isn't away across the highway to make a left. We encountered an undeveloped road while attempting to navigate a route back towards the airport and it was less than ideal.

I am not sure how this hotel has the rating that it does. Have been visiting El Salvador for a week and this is my last stop before heading home. Every other accommodation I’ve stayed in here in the same price range offered a vastly different experience. The rooms are disgusting, not cleaned just caked in some god awful chemical that smells like a public restroom. Dim lighting, shower does not drain, floors were still soaking wet when we arrived, bed comes with no sheet just a quilt, extremely uncomfortable bed. Could not sleep all night because the sound of the highway next to our room was extremely loud and we kept being woken up by trucks passing by. The only thing going for them is the proximity to the airport however when we left the hotel the map had to take us down several dirt roads to get in the right direction to the airport.
