So many issues with this resort. We received very poor instructions on which entrance to use. Everytime we came here using Google maps with our car we ended up taking the Kuskuan entrance, where security were very rude and aggressive. They didn't even help to explain or instruct us to use another entrance for Kuriftu, even though the sign clearly says Kuriftu entrance. We registered our plate number everytime we came but it was sent to another entrance. These guys were so rude that even as a tourist or foreigner who may have gotten lost on the way they had no empathy or understanding. Clearly more communication with the resort and the various entrances are needed as well as clearer and up to date sign posting.
When we tried to book on multiple occasions the website was down, not accepting payment or showing that the rooms we fully booked. We had to reserve via Boston Day Spa... even then the Internet was down and they had to call and reserve for us so we could pay upon arrival.
The place is extremely loud whichever night of the week you go. We tried all weekend, mid week and early on in the week but there are several loud speakers around the vicinity playing all night.
We asked for a gas cylinder as we saw there was a BBQ in the camp but got very confusing instructions without clearly being told how much to pay or how to arrange this. They kept calculating meat by weight and trying to explain something confusing. There is a bbq in every room but apparently it is not a 'real' bbq and only for display. They had to arrange something seperate after many conversations.
Despite all the setbacks we love camping and being in nature among trees so we put all of this aside to try and enjoy the experience. So be advised when coming that it can be tough communicating or understanding.
Staff tried their best to facilitate but there were many things amiss like no wine glasses in the rooms but wine bottle. Safe which ran out of batteries so didn't work. Bicycles in every room but the handles are bent backwards so you are twisting your wrists to try and ride them. The zips on the tents are either broken or don't close when you zip them.
It's a great concept for Ethiopia and very unique but far from being safe, comfortable or memorable. The activities are good and help to distract you from some of the shortfalls. Yes it's glamping and yes it comes with some frustrations and challenges but there are some basic things that can easily be addressed... like having a functioning website where you can easily...
Read moreMy recent stay at Kuriftu Entoto Resort was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the incredible respect and warmth of the staff. I've honestly never encountered such consistently courteous and helpful service. They truly went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience.
The accommodations at Kuriftu are truly unique. My room was beautifully designed, embracing nature and simplicity in a way that felt both luxurious and grounding. It was a refreshing change from typical hotel rooms, offering a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.
Kuriftu Entoto Resort offers a fantastic range of activities. I had a wonderful time trying out the horseback riding and the zip line – both were thrilling and well-organized. The resort also boasts go-karting, paintball, and many other options, ensuring there's something for everyone. You certainly won't be bored!
The dining experience was equally impressive. The resort's restaurant serves up a variety of delicious dishes, and their cakes are simply divine! I have to give a special shout-out to the chefs and restaurant staff for their excellent work.
Finally, a big thank you to all the staff at Kuriftu Entoto Resort. Your dedication and kindness made my stay truly memorable.
A quick note for future visitors: be aware that there is an entrance fee, and they operate a cashless system, accepting only online payments or card transactions. This is good to know beforehand to ensure a smooth arrival. Also, pack some cozy clothes as the mountain air can get...
Read moreI believe I have found one of the national treasures of Ethiopia! After several days of working in a prison medical clinic I took our team to this resort. I had heard it was good, but it was more than good - it was amazing! The air is clean and cool. It is located on a mountain that overlooks Addis Ababa, But you feel that you were in the countryside. The permanent tented camp is clean and comfortable. The staff is extremely accommodating. The restaurant is open 24 hours and has a good variety of dishes to offer. The included breakfast buffet was as good as anything I've had at the Hilton. And if you are interested there are lots of activities like a zip line and horseback riding. Our team thoroughly enjoyed the spa. World class massage in a beautiful environment. And I'm not just saying this, I had some of the best Buna in all of Ethiopia at reception.
Can you tell I love this place? I would give it 10 stars if that was possible.
One last note - security and concierge was everywhere. At night our ladies were escorted to their tents....
