Sky Resort — Hotel in Bahir Dar Special Zone

The Sky Resort hotel is the newest and nicest hotel in the city, according to all the locals I spoke with. I can attest to the nice part. My guide informed me that it was recently completed and opened only 6 months prior to my stay.||||This spacious lodge is situated right on the southern banks of Lake Tana directly adjacent to the port, where you can catch a ferry to access the lake. The building consists of two circular shaped wings connected by a common public lounge area on each floor and water features at the center of each wing. There is a large restaurant area on the sub-ground floor and an equally spacious outdoor lounge area with great views of the lake and port. The outdoor lounge area is family friendly, featuring a small children play area, an adjacent lawn, and plenty of seating around the perimeter. All of this is situated under a giant fig tree occupied by several bird species. You couldn’t ask for a better setting. But then they made it even better, with music and a daily traditional Ethiopia coffee offering at the base of the fig tree.||||The rooms were large and clean and many of them (mine included) have balconies with great views of the lake. One peculiar thing I noticed: there didn’t appear to be any elevators in the building. This is not massively problematic as the building is only 4 stories tall. But do keep this in mind if you have a heavy bag, and don’t pass on the services of the bellhop. ||||Speaking of service, it was spectacular and every one of the staffs I met were super nice folks. I might have been the only English-speaking foreigner in the building, but everyone tried very hard to communicate effectively, including me.||||I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the great food. The menu was plentiful and every dish I had was outstanding. There is international fare and great local dishes. Try the Tibs with Injera. There is a free breakfast which was good on one day, not so good on another day. But oh well. You can’t have absolutely everything perfect.||||All in all, the Sky Resort easily exceeded my expectations, and I had a great experience here during my stay...

I’m currently staying here with my family.The good thing is that you have clean towels everyday and clean sheets.But communicating can be a problem and also what they have on their menu is not what you get.especially for Asian food and European but as for locals I’m sure they will never disappoint.The service is ok sometimes they can be rude.and always they serve cold food.I never had my meal hot as in temperature and as I’m talking my entire family and I having running stomach.be carefully with the salad and fresh juice. The best hotel. Newly built. Amazing reception and service. Wi-fi, hot shower, room service, spacious rooms and beds, great customer service, and nice view at the lake. I would 100% recommend this hotel. We stayed here on Sept 24th with my siblings and we all enjoyed our stay. My experience with one of the other more expensive hotels the night before was not pleasant at all. I have decided to come to Sky Resort Hotel and found out that it is the best place to stay in.
