From the moment we arrived at The Lomani Resort on Mololo Island, our experience was nothing short of magical. As our boat pulled up to the island, we were greeted by a chorus of team members singing a beautiful Fijian welcome song. This heartfelt greeting set the tone for the incredible week ahead and left us feeling both overwhelmed and excited.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed ashore with traditional bead necklaces and whisked away in a golf cart to the resort. Arriving at Lomani Resort, we were greeted instantly in warmth and hospitality. Chairs awaited us in the lobby, accompanied by refreshing coconut juice and moist towels to freshen up—just what we needed after our journey. Jesse greeted us with such genuine warmth that it brought tears to my eyes. Every member of the staff we encountered throughout our stay was fabulous, leaving us speechless with their kindness and attentiveness.
Our beachfront room was a dream come true, complete with a private pool. While the pool was a bit chilly for my taste, I found solace on the daybed, which we utilized multiple times each day to watch breathtaking sunsets, enjoy the gentle waves, and indulge in afternoon naps. The room itself was stunning and incredibly comfortable, but the highlight was undoubtedly the outdoor stone shower. Showering under the open sky while surrounded by coconut trees and the sweet sounds of birds was an unforgettable experience.
Dining at the resort was equally delightful. Each morning, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a beautifully laid-out breakfast. Lunch by the pool was a real treat, featuring fabulous lunch choices that never disappointed. Dinner was made even more special with live music, and on our anniversary, the staff sang a beautiful song and came to hug and congratulate us, creating a moment that felt beyond any hospitality experience I’ve ever had.
Captain Daniel, the boat captain, quickly became my husband’s favorite person at the resort. He took us snorkeling and even on a dolphin-hunting adventure. The snorkeling experience was incredible, and Captain Daniel ensured we were well taken care of. We also enjoyed a delightful picnic lunch on a sandbar, which Capitan Dan expertly set up for us. The resort provides glass-bottom kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, which were fantastic additions to our aquatic adventures.
The spa was a special treat, too. Although I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to cold, the ice bath was a unique experience I’m glad I tried. The tingling sensation was a bit much for me, but the overall atmosphere made it worthwhile. The island was full of beautiful wildlife, and we enjoyed spotting the lovely birds that inhabited the area. Just a heads up: watch your step while walking to dinner at night—there are toads everywhere! Counting them on our strolls became a fun nightly ritual. Stargazing was another highlight; the night sky was simply breathtaking.
Biking around the island was a joy as well, allowing us to explore the other resort, Plantation Island, where we indulged in some great poke for lunch. Just be prepared for a very family-friendly atmosphere there, with lots of children enjoying their time.
As our stay came to an end, the team at Lomani surprised us with a heartfelt farewell in a separate room, singing a goodbye song that brought me to tears. I felt as if this wonderful team had become my family over the course of a week, and the thought of leaving them was genuinely heartbreaking.
Would I return to Lomani? Absolutely, without a second thought! I’m already planning my next trip. I must admit, I’m hesitant to write such an incredible review for fear that it might become too popular and make reservations hard to come by. But this was, without a doubt, the most incredible experience of our lives, and I feel so grateful to have traveled the world a bit and stumbled upon this gem.
Thank you, Lomani Resort, for everything you did. We couldn’t have asked for more. I wish I could...
Read moreWe stayed at Lomani Island resort on our Honeymoon for six nights. The staff are very friendly and we had an amazing greeting. I had read some reviews before we left saying that they were at times unpleasant and difficult to deal with. This simply could not be further from the truth, and we found them to be extremely hospitable and they really did care that you were enjoying your stay. I would nearly go as far to say that they are the best thing about the resort. The rooms available are beautiful and well maintained. It is also only a stroll from your back garden to the the beach, where you can observe the most beautiful sunsets.
However, In order to give a fair representation of the resort to everyone and especially to those traveling a long distance to get there, I do need to state the faults and the reasons why we are not providing a five star review. Please keep in mind that this is our personal opinion, and some people may not have had/will have a problem with what I am about to point out.
For the beautiful location on offer, well maintained grounds and absolutely wonderful staff, I simply do not believe that the food is up to the same standard. The menu is quiet big, offering dishes from breakfast to lunch time wraps and burgers and to the a la carte evening menu of pastas, fish of the day and curries. What’s wrong with this you might think?
Well, for one the menu stays the same for the duration of the week (including the fish of the day, which in our case, was Spanish mackerel every single day!!), so by the end of our stay here we were not looking forward to eating the food and simply looked forward to the friendly welcome of the staff and having a glass of wine. Not only was the menu always the same, but the quality of the food was not very good. Considering that we are both foodies this was a little disappointing.
I should add that not everything was bad. My favorite meal each day was the lunch to be honest. The wraps were simple but fresh. The deserts were not too bad, but again they got a bit boring having the same choices to choose from every day and they did not change at all on the dinner menu. The breakfast is complimentary but not worth mentioning.
Stepping away from the cuisine, I need to mention my Last negative comment. The one thing we found most disappointing is the sea. The tide goes out at about 9 each morning and comes in at about three in the afternoon. Even when the tide is in,the water levels are so low it’s impossible to have a swim unless you walk out at least 70 meters, and that is no exaggeration. This is obviously not lomani’s fault and it may seem harsh putting it in the review, but neither of us are fond of swimming pools and we both enjoy a nice swim in the sea to cool down. There is a perfectly clean pool on the resort however for those that enjoy that.
These are the only real faults with Lomani and although this review may seem negative there is a lot of positives about the resort and it is well worth a four star review.
The resort offers a range of daily activities that are very enjoyable. They range from snorkeling to boat trips and massages. The staff once again are extremely accommodating.
For example, due to weather conditions they had to cancel one of the boat tours but they rearranged to take us on another date when we told them we were leaving on the Friday, despite already having a packed schedule. This was very accommodating and especially given that they were not going to do the tour until the week after.
I had never been to another resort before so I do not have anything to compare Lomani with like other reviews, but considering how far away it is for us to travel there and also the cost of staying in Lomani, I don’t think I would return.
If you are more inclined to opt for resort holidays and live reasonably close to Fiji such as Australia or New Zealand, then Lomani island resort could be well...
