Mestarin Kievari — Hotel in Eastern Lapland

I had the pleasure to stay at Mestarin Kievari for three nights in August 2011. ||||My room was a standard single room with a sauna. The room was sparkling clean, and the bed was very comfortable. It was nice to have a small refrigerator for refreshments purchased from grocery store which is located beside the hotel. The pièce de résistance, though, was the sauna! There is nothing better, after a long day of sight-seeing in Finnish Lapland, than relaxing in a sauna built by a "suomalainen mies" and enjoying a nice cold Lapin Kulta or whatever your taste, all in the the privacy of your own room! ||||The breakfast buffet was excellent...lots of variety, hearty and tasty. I had dinner twice, salmon was cooked to perfection; reasonably priced menu, in my opinion. ||||Very efficient check-in and check-out, regardless of language barrier. Guest reception is in the restaurant area, many staff didn't speak English, but that's not a problem, patrons of restaurant who speak English are most willing to help, if translation is needed. ||||Overall, I found this hotel to be just perfect for me, and I will definitely be back. We stayed for 4 nights over Christmas and the staff here were just fantastic. They were always there to help with whatever we needed! |Great location opposite a big supermarket and near shopping streets. The lake is a 5-10 minute walk away which is absolutely beautiful. The staff also pass you on to someone who is able to organise activities for you to do!||The rooms are a little out dated, but that didn't really bother us. We spent a long weekend in this nice and small a hotel in Northern Finland, Kemijärvi. Kemijärvi is a small town above the Artic Polar Circle. The rooms were a little bit out of date, but clean. We asked a room with Sauna. It was nice, better than the room in the hotel. We spent one night in the hotel room and two nights in a room with Sauna. The were also a fridge and a electric kettle in that room type. ||The staff was amazing! Very friendly ant the food in the restaurant was super! We liked the breakfast too. I recommend this hotel because of it's excellent food, lamb and reindeer were fantastic! And also try other Finnish food...
