Hotelli Savonia — Hotel in Kuopio sub-region

In fact I would have wanted to give the hotel even better points as it was a perfect choice for me, but I know that some more demandig travellers would like to go for something more "upmarket". Yes, the hotel is a bit outside the city center and yes, the hotel is not that fancy, but the service was good and it's clean and well maintained although the hotel doesn't look appealing from the outside. The rooms are simply furnished, but have what you need for a short city break; comfortable beds, good shower, hair-dryer and Flat-TV. No mini-bar and I didn't see a safe in the room, but I'm sure you can leave your valuables at the front desk as one used to do in earlier days. The breakfast was good, but nothing overwhelming. The hotel runs as a school,for waiters and chefs, so there's plenty of people taking care of you. ||||It's a two km walk to the city center, but there's local busses or you can borrow (or rent?) a bike at...

All the major hotels in Kuopio were fully booked and had to take a room away from the city centre. The best part of the experience was definitely the helpful and kind service personnel in the reception. This evening it was staffed by a local student and he’ll go far with that attitude.|The hotel is situated about 10 min from the railway station, and the entrance can be a little tricky if you don’t follow the signs. It’s a bit old and maybe worn out, but the room itself was spotless with crisp clean linen. All the basic necessities were in the room. |On the negative we can find the lack of a restaurant for the evening, but the nearby shopping centre provides for this loss. Olin varannut alkuviikosta yllätyksenä perheelleni saunallisen sviitin, ilmastoinnilla ja petipaikat viidelle. Saavuimme hotellille hieman aikaisemmin kuin klo 14 jolloin oli määrä saada huone haltuun. Respassa oli nuori huonoa suomea puhuva nainen(varmaankin opiskelija/kesätyö tekijä tms.). Meidän varausta ei sitten löytynytkään. Respan ihminen alkoi hätääntyneenä järjestämään meille jotakin huonetta. Ensinnäkin respaan oli omituinen reitti 3 kerrokseen. Toiseksi paikka oli likainen ja epäsiisti ja ilma tunkkainen ja aivan älyttömän kuuma. Respan työntekijä siis lupasi että pääsemme huoneeseen 20 minuutin kuluttua. Hän hävisi hotellin käytäville(oli varmaan yksin töissä ja meni siivoamaan huonetta). Odottelimme puolisoni ja pienten lasteni kanssa reilu tunnin siinä kuumassa ja tunkkaisessa hotellin käytävässä kun respan ihminen tuli kertomaan, että nyt huoneeseen pääsisi. Sanoin, että tarkastamme huoneen ennenkuin asetumme sinne. Huone EI todellakaan ollut se mitä olin varannut. Ei ollut saunaa, ei ilmastointia (paitsi yksi pieni ja likainen pöytätuuletin lattialla). Huoneeseen astuessa heti haisi ihmisen virtsa, huoneen lattia oli likainen ja kaikki tasot myös. Kylpyhuoneessa oli likainen poreamme ja sielläkin haisi virtsa ja mikä lie home. Petipaikkoja ei ollut kuin neljälle. Tämän vuoksi marssimme takaisin respaan palautamme avaimet ja sanoin, että huone ei ole se mitä olin varannut ja kerroin myös muut huoneen ongelmat ja sen että yksi meistä olisi joutunut nukkumaan lattialla, koska lisävuodetta ei sinne oltu laitettu. Emme siis jääneet tähän niin kutsuttuun hotelliin, joka pilasi perheemme viikonlopun. Jouduimme ajamaan takaisin kotiin. En suosittele kyseistä majapaikkaa kenellekään.
