Really nice place with caravan parking places separated with bushes. There are places without bushes and also without electric. The layout is quite good as places without electric are close to kitchen and toilets etc. Also the gray water and chemical toilet emptying is easily accessible. I stayed at the open field with electric. The field has reasonably flat areas. It seems to be designed quite good with drainage at grass. But still water a few puddles do exist after rain. They could have used a more permeable soil to solve that problem. Because of wet areas, the lowest level of grass was not recommended by reception. One problem was the black flies (mäkärät) there are a lot of them and they find their way inside the caravan. There seem to be some mosquitoes in bushed areas. It would have been great if they could get rid of those. The facilities are not brand new but they are in very good condition. The showers use thermostatic taps which helps setting temperature easily. The wash basins have taps with motion sensors and there are paper towel automats. The electric poles use 16A fuses with residual-current device (RCD) and industrial plugs. There is a big fireplace (kota) near facilities which is maintained well with logs available at site. It has a rotating grill surface with height adjustment. It was quite black, so we used a Teflon grill mesh bought from nearby Tokmanni for few euros.(this type of mesh also stops sticking quite good). However kota is open at all sides and perhaps not so nice on very windy days as smoke and ash flies around. There is also beach and a pub, most importantly washing machines. Dryer was broken but there is drying cabinet which is quite efficient.

We spent one night here in our caravan in early July. The experience here was alright. We arrived here after a rainy night. We decided to park our car behind the reception building between some trees, since the rain had turned the grassy area further down the road into a mud field. The are behind the reception building had some trees to divide the caravan slots, which gives you some nice privacy, but also makes your lot very shady and infested with mosquitoes. I'd recommend to check out the field area next to the utilities building, if you have better luck with the weather than us. The utilities building was clean enough to meet the bare minimum requirements, in my opinion. I booked the sauna and did not use the showers in the utilities building, but glancing at them from the toilets they seemed dirty. Dirt and grass on the floor. The kitchen was also alright. A couple of sinks, stoves and a microwave, the usual. Didn't notice it to be especially dirty. We booked the electric sauna. It was clean and had modern showers, so no problems there. You should note that even when the camping site is located right next to the river, the sauna is in the opposite end of the site behind the cottages, so there is essentially no opportunities for swimming while taking a sauna. Not a point against Nilimella, but just something to keep in mind when making a possible sauna reservation. The lady at the reception was nice and we had a good night sleep there even if we were situated quite close to the road. A very peaceful site and I would recommend it to fellow travelers, even though there is room for improvement.

This was a really nice surprise! We came here after travelling down from Norway and had nothing booked for the night. This popped up on maps, so we stopped to see what it was like and immediately saw it was a really beautiful, well maintained campsite. We took one of the camping cabins which cost 50 euros and sleeps 3 people which is very cheap for this end of the country! The cabin had a bunk bed, with the lower section being a double and up top a single. It had a table with chairs, fridge, hob, coffee maker, and microwave, and basic bedding was included. We were quite impressed with it. The area is very clean and tidy, the shower and toilet facilities also clean and new. The lady at reception is absolutely lovely too❤️ Reception sells drinks and gifts and has a little terrace, and just across the road beside the river is a beach bar that also sells food. All in all, a 5/5 place to stay and 100 recommend😃

Considering the fact that renting a cabin costs 100€, and a hotel in Rovaniemi costs 125€ for two including breakfast and cleaning, this was incredibly bad value for money as a base for area activities. We stayed in B1, and were startled at the incredibly poor state of the toilet and shower/sauna area. There was a lot of mold on all shower surfaces, the floor tiles were incredibly dirty from poor cleaning and 30+ year usage (everything there looked like it had been the originals from the 1980s). In addition for charging 100€ a night, there is an additional cleaning fee of 40€ if you don’t want to clean up yourself. Honestly the cleaning should just be a part of the price, as the bathroom floor was so unhygienic that I got a foot fungus infection from it. It appears “clean” when one looks at it briefly. Proper cleaning supplies are also not provided (beyond vacuum cleaner & simple mop, no cleaning liquids), which does mean that people cannot clean this place to the level required without knowing they need to bring their equipment from home! You cannot expect that from foreign/Finnish tourists from far away. The owners should feel embarrassed and ashamed for their immense greed. The location was nice, indeed, and the camping ground in general looked well maintained enough. There was a nice-ish play area for children and also...
