I visited Hailuoto for the first time with my husband and our 2 Chartreux cats and we stayed at the Arctic Lighthouse Hotel. As the reception closes at 9 pm we were phoned by the hotel after 8 pm to ask if we would be there before 9 or if they had to make arrangements how we would get the key. I appreciate that. We were already on the island and driving to the hotel and managed to arrive at 8.30. The written information I had received did not actually tell that the kitchen would be closed at 8 pm - so we arrived hungry after 3 hrs’ drive to find out about that. Fortunately they told us about Kahvila Loma which was still open- we just had to drive back about 9 km. That cafe /bar turned out to be a very positive experience even if we had our doubts at first. The freshly made burgers and french fries were delicious. We arrived in the middle of a pub quizz, but nobody was disturbed or annoyed.||Our hotel room was the standard room which allowed pets. It was simple, but big enough. The bathroom was very roomy. Two things I would suggest to change : please write clearly that there is just a soap, but no shampoo and showergel offered by the hotel so your hotel guests know that when they pack for the trip! Fortunately I always bring my own shampoo and conditioner with me. I would also suggest to place an electric kettle and teebags in. rooms so late arriving guests would be able to have something warm to drink if the kitchen is already closed. (Smart guests find out beforehand that they better bring something to eat with them if arriving late.)||The atmosphere was friendly and service was good. Breakfast was not something sensational, but still good enough. One big plus is that you can charge your car for free! That was a pleasant surprise for a plug-in hybrid owners like us , but it must be an even bigger plus for an electric car owner. ||We liked the hotel and are plannng to go back with friends (who could not make it this weekend) in winter or in summer. This was the only weekend in September-October that we could have a room from Friday to Sunday: it just show that this hotel in popular. The weather was as expected in September - bit rainy and windy, but it did not prevent us from going out to explore the environment and the 150 year-old lighthouse ( 110 stept to the topfloor!). || Keep up the good work and see you again...
Read moreAfter reading the previous reviews, it seems that lessons are learned from everything and none of the mentioned quality deviations were noticeable. Emphasized cleanliness, the most friendly and personalized service. The sauna is excellent, high-quality catering works there too. The breakfast is amazingly good and also personalized - also celiac, lactose, vegan diets etc. are taken into account, at least in the calmer second half of September. Both the (breakfast) restaurant and the sea view from the room are simply unprecedentedly great. It was a luxury experience even for a slightly smaller wallet. The opportunities for outdoor activities are also excellent. Barrier-free and well-surfaced routes right from the front door of the accommodation offer a small network of routes right around the hotel, which you never get tired of walking with new variations. Heartfelt thanks for the existence of this hotel service and long live for it! From Oulu's bus station and train station, it also seemed quite easy to take a bus directly to the front door of the hotel. The next season will definitely be...
Read moreOmistajan vaihtuminen on laskenut hotellin tasoa. Uudelleenbrändäys on kehno. Harmittaa. Mukava vanha luotsiasema on remontoitu keskitysleirin näköiseksi. Sijainti on kuitenkin sama vanha ihana Marjaniemen miljöö, mikä on melkoinen valtti. Merimaisema, vanhat kalamökit ja rantaniityt ovat kauniit. Lintuja on paljon. Söpöt pääskyt pesivät hotellin räystäillä. Majakan valo välkkyy yöllä. Kunpa uusi omistaja olisi keskittynyt olennaiseen ja säilyttänyt vanhan...
