We have stayed at this hotel 3 times during the past couple of years. It has a great location next to Koli National Park. The rooms are ok, the bathroom is very small and the shower stall is super tiny. We enjoyed the spa a lot, but it is very small too. But this place has one issue, which really bothers me. They are very anti customer service. Went there one night at midnight and wanted to buy a hot chocolate. So the restaurant was closed and the lady behind the front desk informed me about it. So no hot chocolate even though they have machine there next to front desk. They just won't take the extra step in customer service. And why not sell that cup of cocoa? More income for them. It's only their way or highway. The restaurant staff is the same way. We were celebrating our anniversary and had booked a table by the window weeks earlier. When we arrived to the restaurant we were taken to the middle of the restaurant next to a large party. Not very romantic table to say the least. We asked for another table but we were told that all window tables are booked. So we sat there, had a miserable table and service. While this one table by the window stayed empty. We finished the dinner and the table just stayed empty for another 30 minutes. If they would have been more skilled at customer service they could have given that table to us. We were not going to dine all night. The next people would have still gotten their table by the window. So this hotel leaves you feeling uncared for. Like just don't bother us we are...
Read moreFirst, Koli nature park is beautiful, and its nature trails start from the hotel. However, I would love this place more if it was Swissôtel Koli or something similar. There are Sokos elements that make it feel too familiar for any Finn.||||The hotel is as good as it gets in Finland (at this price level). Nothing to complain about in our room. Everything was working well.||||Breakfast was good, and the views from the restaurant were beautiful. In such an iconic national spot, I would appreciate having Finnish music (i.e. jazz or folk) played in the background instead of a lobby music playlist.||||We were not happy about the bar/restaurant. The pizzas were quite terrible. We also tried the "better side" of the restaurant and ordered some meat to share, but the food quality was average. Some of the meat was cold when brought to the table. Also, including supermarket-quality french fries in a portion with quality meats didn't feel okay. The restaurant staff didn't know about the food and had to take the menu to check what it consisted of.||||Our dog was nicely welcomed, as we had also booked a room suitable for dogs. The staff was friendly, especially at the reception. ||||More parking spaces and electric car charging stations are needed. But probably this situation was partly caused by the renovation of the...
Read moreThis was my second visit here with my family. We drove here for 5 and a half hours,it is well worth the drive. We arrived and got our room which was spacious and cosy with a view overlooking the lake. There was fun little details in the room like the mood rock and eye relaxing stones in the fridge. There was also white and red wine and sparkling wine waiting for extra charge. We got into our complimentary robes and flipflops and went to the spa. The spa fee included packages with Lumene spa products that could be changed for sparkling wine and alcohol free drinks for our teenagers. The spa is small but very relaxing with differents showers, saunas and a steam room, a cold pool and outside tub and lounge areas. The best is the pool with underwater classical music. There is a beautiful view overlooking the lake from the spa windows. After the spa we had a nice dinner in the restaurant, prices are mid range. After dinner we climbed to Ukko-Koli to see the sunset at ten pm. It was breathtaking with birds singing in the backround. The next morning we had a great breakfast. The breakfast buffet is good quality with multiple choises and locally produced products. This was a totally relaxing trip with calm and quiet surroundings. The next day was saturday and there was a lot more guests,so it was...
