The hotel has been built into the premises of "Langin kauppahuone" (Lang's merchant house), a very traditional place of trade in Raahe. Each room is different, but all have old-time atmosphere. Bathroom facilities are modern. Soundproofing is not optimal, but that is more than offset by the dive into times gone by. Our room (Patruunan kamari, The patron's chamber) had a view to the Pekka-square, with a statue of Raahe's founder in the center of the square. Entrance to the premises was from the inner yard, which was abloom during our visit in July.||||Check-in time is early, but if you arrive late (like we did) just give them a call in advance to give your ETA. And when you get there, the person who lets you in arrives in just two minutes from the neighbouring building.||||Breakfast was in one of the rooms of the accompanying Cafe. Stylish, and had all you could ask for. Pity we moved on until the actual cafe opened, the sweet things looked and smelled great!||||This is definitely for you if you are looking for something out of the ordinary. Best lodging during our one week tour in...
Read moreI have booked a room in the Langin due to a recommendation from a friend/colleague of mine and upon own research in advance to my stay in Raahe.||In the vicinity there is no other hotel with such positive ratings and I have understood why.||There are only 7 rooms of which each has its own story linked to a Raahe personality from the aforementioned 19th century. I spotted the "Sofia" room, very bright and facing towards the old city's center. Even the staff is thoughtout dressed in a contemporary look (only a young man was wearing a t-shirt not suiting into this time). All had been exceptionally friendly and welcoming right from the beginning.||A small breakfast buffet, however serving all needs.||Overall amazing. Luckily, there are still a few individual hotels with their own theme...
Read moreWonderful Cafe and B&B dating back to 1811. It is situated in the old wooden Raahe, a historic district, where several houses have survived from the sailing ships's era. All the guest rooms have been built and decorated true to the period, although bathrooms have all the modern amenities and beds are very comfortable. Beware that the doors and walls in this old building are not as thick as they are in modern hotels, but then again, there is no TV in the room either. If you have trouble sleeping in the midnight sun, the curtains in the Captain's room might be too modest for you. Breakfast was wonderful with delicious porridge, berries, freshly baked bread, boiled eggs cake etc. Downtown Raahe is quite small and it is only a five minute...
