Original Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta — Hotel in Upper Savonia

First of all - this hotel premises is quite old and therefore it makes certain tricks||which you must adapt to.||The layout is very complex, you walk corridors around and around and finally you||find your room door - maybe.||||Secondly - the building does not have a proper air-conditioning which means you||have to open the windows open during the night. BIG MISTAKE. If your room is||on the street side, there is tremendously noise from the street and you cannot sleep||unless you are loaded by alcohol. ( not recommended ).||||We booked a larger room which was really nice and modern with a large bathroom,||even with a tub.||||The breakfast room was ok and the assortment was normal as this hotel is a part||of larger chain.||||Parking is conveniently behind the hotel without any extra cost.||||Could be nice, but only during the...

all in all a pleasant stay, however a few small nitpicks which are not necessarily the hotel's fault. we got booked with a pet and a baby at the street side where some dimwits were driving around blasting music to the point of our shower door shaking. this continued until 4am. Room itself was good and spacious, however it was not accessible with a stroller, the ramps were so narrow, only a hamster wheelchair would fit in. The breakfast definitely needs improvement: the bacon was deep-fried to the point of crumbling like charred paper. I was in transit journey in Iisalmi and staying Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta. As a member of Sokos Hotel Group it was safe pick for me. I arrived to Hotel by car and Hotel had parking area in back Yard and it was free. From parking area you can enter directly to Hotel reception. Check-in was fast and service was friendly. My room was spacious and view was to ”main road” of Iisalmi. However I didn’t hear any noise from traffic. Hotel doesn’t have pool but nice sauna area in top floor. Hotel has separate sauna areas for men and women. Breakfast was basic. Nothing special but included basic scandinavian breakfast ingredients.
