I asked for my room to be cleaned on day 5 of a more than 2 week stay. They refolded a dirty hand towel I had on the floor and hung it put it on the shelf underneath the sink. They did not change the bedding, when I asked about this, they said this is hotel policy to not change long term guest bedding!! The gym is barely bigger than a closet with three pieces of equipment, one of which (the treadmill) is completely broken and the weight machine is dangerously close to breaking a cable. The exercise bike is not the sturdiest but at least it works. The water cooler went empty and I let the staff know 3 days ago, it is still empty (I am still here for another week).
Down grade to 1 star!! UPDATE!!!!! The cable to the weight machine broke while another patron was using the making. A piece of metal smacked me on the side, and the whole arm of the pulley fell on top of the man!!! I ran to get hotel service and the 3 women who came to the fitness room seemed uncaring and rather indifferent that this machine that I reported as dangerous broke!!
After other reviews I decided not to try the restaurant especially after looking at the prices, yikes!!! Some of the staff are truly friendly, others seem like it’s a bother if you make any kind of request. It is a below average hotel at best if it were in the USA, but you stick it in a town in France that doesn’t have many hotel options and you feel almost grateful to have basic hotel amenities. The location is the best thing about the hotel and even that is a bit tricky because the entrance and parking are off of a one way street. The hotel is next to a shopping center, groceries and more can be purchased. However, the mini fridge in the room is an ultra mini and there is no hot plate or microwave. The coffee maker takes a very specific pod and they do not have kettles in the room to...
Read moreWe had booked a room for 1 night Bed and Breakfast via the Best Western website. Arrived at hotel rather stressed as our SatNav kept sending us to a completely different location and eventually had to use Google Maps to get there. The hotel itself is very nice, pleasant room all very clean. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. We had dinner in the restaurant which was really lovely and the breakfast offering the next morning was excellent. However, when we came to check out, the receptionist handed me the card machine and told me how much she was going to charge me. I asked to see a print out of my bill, which seemed to cause her to have a bit of a huff. It is standard procedure in all hotels to show the guest their final account before asking for payment. The bill was eventually produced and I noticed that we had been charged for 2 breakfasts. I explained in French (I am fluent!) that our rate included breakfast but she said “computer says no”! I produced the booking confirmation email on my phone which clearly stated that we were on a B&B inclusive rate but she said she didn’t understand English and called a colleague who did. The second receptionist confirmed that the charge should be removed, but the first receptionist was reluctant to do so. It left me with a less than satisfactory feeling about this hotel and should be a warning to others who have booked on a B&B basis to make sure they...
Read moreI'm from Evreux. I grew up here. The Best Western is an oasis of international standard, safety and civilization here. It's the only good hotel we have. - You see, Evreux, in particular La Madeleine area , is a well known hotbed of violence and crime. There one attraction and it's the cathedral. Covid killed the high street and it never recovered. Every hotel is a run down hole because no sane tourist would stop in my hometown unless they absolutely have to. ||Located near a hypermarket, the BW not only clean and well arranged, but all the staff speaks English. In fact a lot of their staff lived abroad so they know what international clients expect. The service is top notch. Sure it's 3x the price of other hotels but that's what you pay to have access to a world class hotel where you wouldn't expect it.||The restaurant is really good, it's not the best in town but it's super convenient. The place is near the hyper market so you can do shopping safely. The staff accommodates requests most hotels would flat out refuae. It's clean and everything works - maybe that's normal to you but trust me that's a rarity here. The Internet works great. When I visited there were people from all over the planet: Florida, Germany, Cali, and even Texas. They all loved it and it was fun to feel 'between like minded traveller's.||PS: it's also the...
