La Ferme d'Angèle — Hotel in Albertville

We have just come back from a wonderful week with Valerie and Jean-Marc at La Ferme d'Angele, and we loved it! We stayed in "Edelweiss", a beautiful room with a comfortable double bed on the main floor, and twin beds for the kids on the upstairs mezzanine. Our room was at the front of the chalet, so we had a spectacular view across the valley from our huge window and little balcony. The evening sun pouring in was spectacular. The large terrace outside was also lovely - we had tea there a couple of times, and really enjoyed the wood-fired hot tub too. Food was delicious, and Valerie was so accommodating with any likes / dislikes, cooking separate simple dishes for the kids if the planned meal didn't suit. Amazing puddings too! Valerie speaks excellent English and is super helpful in any way she can - both she and Jean-Marc are a delight. And - the whole reason for being there - the skiing was great! La Rosiere is just up the hill (10/15 mins drive, free parking) with it's lovely ski area, and so is the obvious choice, but Les Arcs is only 30 mins away, Tignes and Val d'Isere only 40 mins away, and you can even get to Val Thorens in just over an hour. The entire place has a unique charm that’s hard to put into words—bohemian, rustic, and full of character. It truly feels like stepping into a peaceful, cozy retreat tucked away from the world.

Dinner was one of the highlights. Valérie serves a home-cooked, family-style meal that feels like you're dining in someone’s warm country kitchen. I had a dietary restriction and, even though I hadn’t mentioned it in advance, she kindly prepared a vegetarian dish for me at the last minute. Future guests should let her know of any special dietary needs ahead of time, since she prepares everything herself with great care.
