Male traveller. Mid 30s.Visiting Paris for leisure.
The hotel in Les Courtilles, AsniĂšres Gennevilliers - emd of metro line 13. The hotel is located opposite the metro station and also links with tram and bus services. A little further out if you miss the last metro, but for the cost/ lower budget, this is ideal. B&B hotels closer to Porte de Clichy are much pricier, so Paris Gennevilliers AsniĂšres was a good alternative and allowed me to have a longer stay in Paris! :) I have stayed in other B&B hotela in Paris and in Czechia/ the Czech Republic.
Intermarche supermarket, a few bakeries, petrol station, McDonald's and a few other restaurants are within a 5 mins walk. Park to the rear (left) of the hotel along with a residential community /estates. I felt safe in the area.
Rooms are a decent size. Rooms are accessed by code, not by key or card, this worked well. I stayed at the front of the hotel to start, but there was a fault with the window - meaning the window couldn't close fully and the noise from the road was disruptive. In the morning, I informed reception. The maintenance team could not immediately fix it, so they offered me a room swap, this time on the side of the hotel - the window closed fully here and was very peaceful and noise free.
The room was cleaned daily - bed made, change of towels. Cleaning was broadly to a good standard and there is hard flooring (not carpet) in the rooms which I prefer due to cleanliness. I would have liked it hoovered/swept daily, but I appreciate this not likely possible. All rooms are non-smoking but the first room did smell of some smoke on arrival.
Having had two rooms, the rooms need to have more attention to detail when a deep clean is done between guests or periodically - including the back of tvs, skirting boards around the room, any damage or marks to walls and around the floors edges in the bathroom. There was a dead fly on wall in my first room, it was there and wasn't removed before my arrival, this should have been picked up, such little imperfections make an impression about care, ownership and staff pride. The shower was very powerful and hot - very good and refreshing. You have to be mindful of water exiting the shower though.
Most staff were personable and helpful when greeted, not overly welcoming though e.g. they said hello if you said hello first. This could be easily improved.
Bed and pillows very comfortable - I was impressed with this and slept well.
The negative for me were the communal areas, these were poorly maintained, most visibly the lifts (two) - they were filthy, marks up the walls, the lifts smelly, floor dirty, marks over the internal lift doors - not a good impression and should be urgently rectified to set the standard.
I did not opt for breakfast, but I did have a cup of tea. The breakfast looked very basic and of low quality for the price.
I would stay again, but staff should expect me to complain if my feedback has not resulted in improvements and greater attention to detail re cleanliness; afterall feedback is golden.
Room cleanliness 7/10 Communal cleanliness 5/10 Value for money 9/10 Shower 9/10 Bed 9/10 Staff attentiveness 7/10 Local amenities 7/10 Access to transport links / connectivity 8/10 For info - not a criticism of the hotel - walkability to central Paris...
Read moreI would strongly advise anyone coming to Paris to pay a little extra to stay in the city central and not here. Worst experience ever here. Not sure how this hotel location hires itâs staff but they should definitely be fired, especially the front desk staff (ie the two women that are mainly there). They are not accommodating to finding solutions to problems and have a recited answer of, âI donât knowâ or âwe canât help youâ, which is very lazy. There was one instance when we needed a taxi to the airport and there was no one in reception to help since they were dealing with the breakfast serving, which makes no sense for reception to also do that, but ok?? Iâm no expert but as a hotel they should be hiring reception staff to deal with guest and kitchen staff to deal with the kitchen and food and cleaning staff to deal with cleaning of hotel and rooms. On top of finally finding someone from reception to help getting us a taxi to the airport, they couldnât even help with that and rudely replied that we should have thought of booking it the night before? To tell that to a guest who is visiting a country makes no sense? How are we suppose to know that? That could have been explained to us at check in. So I had to improvise and figure out a way to the airport. They didnât even do their basic job of checking us out, since they were scrambling everywhere but staying at the front desk, so we just left. And a little suggestion for hiring front reception staff, maybe hire ones that also can speak English, I could only imagine how others that donât speak French were dealt with, with the front staff. Luckily I was able to communicate with them in French. Overall, bad hotel and if I can give you a zero to negative rating I would. I would suggest treating guests good during their visits to another country that isnât their own and accommodating their needs instead of saying âno or we canât do anything â. I have been in accommodations in unfortunately poorer countries than Paris where this hotel is located, with far better service. The only positive is that the subways are very close to the hotel for those willing and able to use it as Paris overall has a very good metro system. I definitely agree with all the negative reviews, but question the validity of the positive reviews and donât think they are real or valid...
Read moreOur stay was fine at B&B except for our second morning. We had decided to have breakfast there for the second morning when the front desk manager, Aldjia, asked me for my room number. I was holding my 2 year old daughter. I told her the room number and she said, VERY LOUDLY, we had not paid yet for breakfast and I could not sit. She added that I needed to "PAY NOW!" at the front desk, pointing emphatically. I told her my husband was on his way down from our room and would have our credit card with him. Even as I was walking towards to front desk, she continued to yell that we had not paid for yesterday's breakfast and I needed to "PAY NOW!' and "GO TO THE FRONT DESK NOW!" and "YOU CANNOT SIT!". The whole time my daughter is hugging me tighter and tighter, getting very scared. As I was waiting for my husband to come downstairs, and other guests who were in the lobby were witnessing all of this, she told me I could "GO NOW". She was ordering me around. Now, the hotel staff on the first morning had not indicated anything about pre-paying for breakfast. Had we known that was the custom, we would have happily done so. Granted, I have never been to a hotel where pre-paying for breakfast is required. In fact, they customarily ask for the room number and charge you upon check-out. My husband arrived and I told him we needed to pre-pay and he went to the front desk and this woman continued on her extremely loud and unprofessional voice that we had not paid for breakfast. She acted like we were criminals trying to get away, it was insane. As she was yelling at my husband, and he asked her to stop, she yelled, "I am not yelling". She was the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered at a hotel. She is the reason we will not be going back or referring...
