Camping des Lancières — Hotel in Auxerre

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.

As a family of seasoned travellers we can single-handedly say this is the WORST experience we have ever had in a campsite. We experienced clear discrimination to a point we felt unsafe remaining on the site for the duration of the stay we had booked and already paid for.

On night one of our stay our children were playing with other children on the on-site trampoline, when our 7 year old daughter was kicked and pushed through the net of the trampoline (by the other children on site). The net was damaged as she went through it and fell onto the ground. Obviously she was hurt and in pain. There were no staff on site and no contact details for anyone to report what had happened so we took pictures and waited until morning.

The next morning we were woken up by the manager banging on our van, insisting we pay for the broken trampoline, or she will call the police. She stated she does not speak English, so could not listen to what had happened, and insisted the other families had already told her that our children had intentionally broken the trampoline (we have images where the zip has physically torn, which couldn’t be done by a child). We tried to explain in our limited French however she was not willing to stop and let us even try to speak in broken French or English.

The manager would not stop to let us speak at all, was just continuously aggressive.

We ended up leaving and not staying for the second night we had paid for, as they were so unwelcoming,...

Liked: Cheapest site we had booked over nearly 3 weeks in Europe, it was a basic small site the toilets were adequate and clean just old, hot water electric hook up And wifi for £10 a night whats there not to like

Very quite which was fine for us table tennis and trampoline for kids small boats for hire and fishing in the canal, village was a 5 minute walk where was a couple of local restaurants

100% would stay here for the value if you want something lively Well its not for you if you want a decent quite site for a couple of nights well its...

Liked: Spotlessly clean, very close to Rogny, a really beautiful little town. They really have thought of everything on this site, there’s a cabin on site with WiFi, a library, microwave, freezer and information, outside the cabin is an under cover seating area for hot days. I have been touring France for 3 weeks now, camping every night, and this is definitely the best site I have stayed at. Don’t miss it!
