Auberge du Canal — Restaurant in Auxerre

This is one of the nicest places I have ever eaten. Lovely food, great service and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. I love getting involved in local culture, this place absolutely epitomises what is good about giving it a try. The patron and the staff are helpful and accommodating in many ways, from explaining the menu to recommending courses. Even the local patrons help out, making sure that you don't get kept waiting. I went with friends after a day out, but they still put together a lovely meal for us. On another visit, when there was a fixed menu, I wasn't keen, so they directed me to a local place for an alternative. There is nice open air seating near the canal, and a traditional restaurant set out indoors. There are some very nice pictures on display from local artists. Apart from this particular restaurant, Rogny Les Sept Ecluses is a really interesting, very welcoming place to stay. Que dire nous nous sommes arrêtés pour manger à midi et c'était une catastrophe... Arrivée vers 12h30 on a du attendre 14h pour avoir nos plats (ils ont oubliés de servir nos entrées...) et ensuite pour avoir du pain c'était la même galère enfin bref des personnes débordés alors que nous étions pas très nombreux en terrasse... La patronne nous a fait un geste sur la facture... deux cafés... je pense qu'après avoir passé presque 3h à attendre pour manger elle aurait pu faire mieux... Niveau qualité du repas je ne préfère rien dire ça pourrait prendre encore quelques lignes... Et le prix n'en parlons pas non...
