LOVE the husband wife team that runs the place, such great people. Kind-hearted, helpful, friendly, welcoming, accommodating...funny! They made my whole stay wonderful. Traveling by myself can be difficult but I always looked forward to coming into the hotel and seeing their smiles and saying hello. They welcomed my little dog and loved her. She had a great time and loved visiting with them. The room was updated and the bathroom was really nice and modern. The room and bathroom was a tad small for my taste, but not a big deal. The shower was a bit of a problem as it completely soaked the floor as the glass didn't block the water from coming out. But plenty of hot water and nice towels and a lovely tub. Lots of free parking. Charming town (go to the pizza place up the street, it's awesome). Close to Mont St Michel and many other sites (check on TripAdvisor for things to see and do). Get your ticket for Mont St Michel from the hotel front desk before you go. Same price, but you skip the line there. The hotel has lovely "island" area for relaxing in a chair by the water. A NOT TO MISS item is the gorgeous nature walk (past the horses...along the river.) Don't miss the experience! Ps...there are some nice waterfalls at the end of the walk, so keep going until you hear and see them. Would I stay here again? For sure! Would be great to see the lovely hosts again and take those...
Read moreThis is a bog-standard Best Western hotel. If you get a room with a river view (like us) then this compensates slightly for the fact that it's nothing special. The room was fine in that it was relatively spacious, had a comfortable bed (except for the dreaded foam pillows), a large TV, safe and enough storage for a short stay.. The bathroom was fine with decent towels and plentiful hot water. Breakfast was fine also with a decent choice for the type of hotel it is. The views from the breakfast room/restaurant were of the river and that was pretty good. There were water dispensers on each floor which was also a thoughtful touch. The drinks machine in the breakfast room is free to use all day if you have breakfast there. But. The hotel has no real place to sit and relax and read a book except from some sofas in reception. It's also pretty much devoid or character and atmosphere. The staff blew hot and cold: sometimes accommodating and helpful, other times grudging and brusque. Housekeeping was just OK. The tissue(s) in the bathroom were eco-friendly and were pretty useless. We never ate in the restaurant in the evening so can't comment. Ducey is unremarkable: some cheap eateries and a decent restaurant (the Auberge d'Selune, worth visiting). Overall this is a hotel to use to sleep in and...
Read moreThe hotel has pros and cons. The reason why we chose it, because it was in the middle of two cities we were visiting.
The pros: the bed was comfortable, the car parking area was big enough for many cars, they have good accessibility for disabilities, last but not least it had a great reviews on Google.
The cons: tiny shower area, you can't rotate around yourself. Small toilet area with small sink. The room is tiny and the bed is huge.
The breakfast experience was the weirdest, you first need to get a plate and one piece of butter and a scope of your favourite hot dish behind a transport separator between you and the server as a COVID precaution. Then you can go the seating area, where the rest of the food such as croissant, jams, breads, fruits are placed and everyone can go there without a mask. So the system is weired, why are you doing this from the beginning.
Last but not least, the value we paid didn't justify the quality of the experience. Very small room that wasn't accessible by elevator. We had to drag our bags on stairs. The window can barely be opened, and that night was very hot. Obviously you don't have view, it's just another building in front of you. Room 115.
This is the lowest quality Best Western hotel I visited in France. Usually our experience is amazing, but this hotel in...
