This is a very nice campsite. Spacious plots for campers, caravans and tents. Each area is divided by hedges. Parking maybe under trees or in an open area. Facilities for washing up, clothes washing, including washing machine and tumble dryer. There are also cabins to rent. If I had one negative comment it would be that the shower floor areas need a some upgrading. The silicone needs replacing. Nice colourful units and the showers are warm and powerful enough for a good shower. Bayeux town is only a 15 minute walk. It's well worth a visit. Free use of the swimming pool next door and comes well recommended. Indoor and outdoor pool with an area for children. Also noted is a basket ball court and tennis court along the main road from the campsite. Order your baguette from the office the day before. Food vans arrive on site for some evenings. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it.

A really nice and well looked after campsite. Welcoming staff and the sanitary facilities are clean and well maintained. Easy access to the camping-car service area and chemical waste sink. Carrefour and McDonald's nearby and the site takes orders for bread etc for morning collection. I liked the kerb outlined hard standing. Only stayed one night and so didn't deploy the awning. Will most definitely come back another time to visit the D-Day museum and the beaches.

Our first stop on our first trip in our motorhome. Expectations of a municipal campsite were exceeded and have spoilt us for visiting others. Very friendly and patient with our attempts at speaking French. Able to turn up without reservation. Order croissants and baguette from reception for the following day. Great easy walk into the city and use of swimming complex next door for free was an added attraction. Cycled Le Velo Maritime to Pont en Bessin.

Liked: Camping Municipal des Bords de l'Aure is an absolute gem of a campsite nestled in the charming town of Bayeux, offering a perfect blend of nature, history, and comfort. Surrounded by the serene beauty of the French countryside, this campsite is a haven for campers looking to enjoy both the tranquility of nature and easy access to some of Normandy's most iconic attractions.

One of the standout features of the campsite is its prime location. Just a short walk from the historic Bayeux city center, it provides easy access to the world-famous Bayeux Tapestry, a must-see for history enthusiasts. Additionally, it’s ideally situated for those wanting to explore the D-Day landing beaches, with Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery only a short drive away. Whether you’re a history buff or simply want to soak in the stunning coastal scenery, this campsite is the perfect base.

The amenities at Camping Municipal des Bords de l'Aure are exceptional for a municipal campsite. The pitches are spacious, well-maintained, and shaded by trees, providing a comfortable and peaceful environment. The sanitary facilities are modern, clean, and regularly serviced, ensuring a pleasant stay. There’s also a well-equipped laundry area and a small convenience store where you can pick up any essentials. For families, there’s a playground that keeps children entertained, and the nearby river offers opportunities for leisurely strolls or even a bit of fishing.

What truly sets this campsite apart is the staff. Warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful, they go out of their way to ensure every guest has a wonderful experience. Whether you need recommendations for local attractions, assistance with campsite facilities, or just a friendly chat, they are always available and approachable.

The ambience at the campsite is laid-back and friendly, with a lovely mix of fellow campers from all over the world. The calm, scenic surroundings create a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Whether you’re pitching a tent, parking a camper, or renting one of the mobile homes, you’ll feel at home here.

In summary, Camping Municipal des Bords de l'Aure offers the perfect combination of location, comfort, and hospitality. It’s a fantastic choice for anyone looking to explore Normandy’s rich history while enjoying the peacefulness of nature. Highly recommended for both short stays and longer holidays.

For us we had a mixed stay. The welcome was lacking which for us is really important. You want to feel welcomed and able to approach the staff. Despite one lady being English I believe she didn't acknowledge us on arrival and her colleague sat furthest did . Its barrier entry and we couldn't get in, so had to park in the road whilst one went into to say hello ! ||The pitches are a mixed bag. Some are huge and others tiny. Ours was perfect to be honest. Hedging all around however no indication of where the electricity supply is. Eventually found it only for it to not work and a friendly fellow camper advised tried all the sockets as some dont work. You also need your adapter. We did actually move the power to another point a bit closer wen we spotted it day two. ||The facilities are ok. Sadly for our trip not clean, which is not the campsite but the campers. Would you leave your own toilet like that ! The showers where ok, hot . Toilet roll often ran out. No hand dryers , not a deal breaker but it is the norm now a days. ||A large area for washing up , good washing machines and dryer. |Hilariously daily loud speaker announcements tell you about the food truck coming and what it is , i.e. burgers or Mexican etc ||The fresh water situation was a bit odd. We found one tap on a corner which for us wasn't bad but if you had a big campervan would have been interesting. ||Now the positives, free access tot he fabulous swimming complex through the gate. Brilliant and so welcoming after a long day. ||Location. 5 mins cycle into central Bayeux . Maybe 10 mins walk. Just great. Direct access to the greenway cycle routes through Bayeux and out to the coast. Carrefour hypermarket 5 mins away. ||If your are intersted in the D Day tours , all within easy reach by...

Liked: Great site, freindly reception / welcome, nice large touring pitches, well looked after with small hedges around each pitch and nice mature trees giving it pretty look. Toilet block was clean and good warm showers also plenty of undercover washing up points. Fresh baguettes can be ordered from reception for collection each morning. There are no super pitches so be prepared to fill up your aquaroll but that is no issue. Electric supply is uk and continental plugs but be aware it is 6amp capacity so best to boil a kettle or use a camping kettle and we set our tourer to 1000w and had no issues.

The town swimming pool next door is available free of charge as a camper and is accessable through a camp site gate. You can also walk into Bayeux down the road through that gate and swimming pool at night or take the scenic walk along the river path that runs along side the camp site. Bayeux is a beautiful town and an easy 15 -20 minute walk into the centre.

We traveled from Cherburg and it was only just over an hours drive to the campsite and such an easy drive, a word of warning the entrance to the camp site is off the main road Sat Nav directs you to the swimming pool, don't turn right carry on for about 300 metres and turn right into the site. There is a nice wine warehouse almost opposite the camp site on the right and a good Carrefour supermarket 2 minutes from the site.

This camp site is a superb location if doing the D Day landing sites and I would suggest a day in Bayeux looking at the Tapestry - Cathedral and the Normandy Landing Museum and Cemetry, a good way to start your visit.

Summing up - this camp site is a gem and you should not be...
