My impressions of this property are mixed. The “bones” of the building are good but the rooms are not properly cleaned and maintained to the standard that guests would expect. Like other reviewers, we found thick layers of dust around the edges of the bathroom, urine stains in the toilet and mildew in the tub. When we mentioned this to the front desk rep she said she would inform housekeeping but it was never cleaned during our stay. We stayed in the family apartment and were given the bare minimum to stay there — a small envelope of dish soap, 1 roll of toilet paper. We were glad to have dishware, a small fridge and bottle/wine openers. The beds and bedding were comfortable but lacked mattress protectors which I think should be an industry hotel standard. Like many places in Europe there is no AC so it got quite hot in the room even with the window open as we traveled in the summer and the one portable fan wasn’t quite enough for our family (we were given one more after requesting). The Wifi did not work well. I recommend the hotel install an outdoor hose or shower so guests can remove sand before coming back into the rooms and clogging the drains. The paid breakfast was okay; cereal, bread/cake, croissants, ham, coffee and tea. It would be better if they could add in fresh fruit and vegetables and hard-boiled eggs for people who don’t eat gluten. The best part of the place is the proximity...
Read moreI have mix feelings about this hotel. Its run by two very nice guys, canot say the same about the staff. I love the family room set up, two stories. My kids really enjoy it. The location is good.
When we got there around 6:30pm, there was no one in the reception. You have to call to the restsurant the from the reception phone and they come from the restautant to check you in or assist you with other things.
The room look a little dirty and the toilet "yikes" . And let's not talk about dust! They need to improve their cleaning. The sheets look white and clean.
The door are not completely seal, you can hear everything comming from the hallway. And the door won't shut quietly. So you can hear your neighbors slamming doors.
Wifi is very poor.
Breakfast it's ok, it's made daily from one of the guys. The restaurant...
Read moreThe hotel is very close to Gold Beach D Day landing beach. This was the reason for my visit on 6/6/18. My late father Wilfred Bennett (4/7 Royal Dragoon Guards) landed with his troop in his tank at La Riviere at 7.20 am on 6/6/44 and took out the pillbox there. I was able to visit the beach early and return for a delicous cooked buffet breakfast! I had a large double room which was superb! The bed, which was on a mezzanine level, was very comfortable. There was a lounge area with a sofa and flat screen tv. The bathroom had a bath to relax in. And there was a kitchen area, fully equipped with fridge, cutlery, crockery...
