We were in a group of 2 couples, happy to stay in a chateau/winery as it would be one of the highlights of our trip.||The pictures of Chateau the Montrachet were really nice.||We stayed there for one night, on 24th of January of 2022.||At the beginning, we thought it weird, a big property saying we should check in between 3pm and 6 pm, otherwise wouldn’t have anyone in the reception area to help us with the checkin. ||We arrived at 4:30pm, as requested, had a wine tasting, paid an expensive stay of €250 per room, bought wine in the store and got into the property. ||There was nobody there. The reception lady showed us how to get in the property and how to lock the doors and left.||There was no food available neither.||At 11:30pm we were heading back from dinner and got at the property. There were just the 4 of us, which made us feel unsafe. I took my pair of boots in the car and brought it into the house to use them early in the morning, as we had plans to live by 9am. ||We had breakfast and I couldn’t find my boots. At this time we were not alone anymore. There was the kitchen lady and her son (who she said was an internet service guy and it turned out he was her son). I kindly asked the kitchen lady to help me finding my pair of boots. She started laughing and said I should’ve never leave anything outside of my room. Again - we were alone in the property the night before and I’m 100% sure I brought them to the property at 11:30pm. ||As that happened, we needed to change our plans, trying to find my boots and stayed in the property until noon, loosing the schedule of the day.||Now I feel frustrated. As I payed a huge amount to feel harmed and unsafe.||In case of a fire - who would help us?||Lack of electricity? If someone invades the property? Besides of these, They didn’t solve the mystery of my boots, which I can’t accept it. Not even a security camera they have there to help us find out this problem and help the clients with the feeling of some safety. I’m tremendously regretted to pay a high fare...
Read moreMy wife and I drove around Burgundy for one wonderful week this May, and went from Winery and Chateau one after the next. This region just below Beaune is fabulous. A lot of senerity in this region. We came to this Chateau by design, as it was one of the top Chateaus on our list (along with a fabulous restaurant in town called Ed's and Em's that is terrific). You never know what you will get at these private Chateaus, especially with no appointment or booking. Some Chateaus will accommodate no matter what. The owner of this Chateau. Alain, was in that latter category. He came out and took us, unannounced, to a wine tasting area where we sampled a few of the wonderful wines produced there. He fully explained the history of how he came to live there and the different lots in the area, illustrated with unique maps. I recommend it as a stopping point in one of the best wine producing regions in the world. Alain is a...
Read moreMy wife and I were driving back through Burgundy from a vacation in Provence and decided to visit Chateau Chassagne-Montrachet to sample and buy some of the fabulous Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. We arrived unannounced and were met by Alain, the owner, and his daughter Natalie. They were so friendly and welcoming. Alain took us out into the vineyard and we tasted some of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes straight off the vines- marvellous. We then returned to the shop and tasting area where we tried different vintages of both wines recommended by Alain. We settled for a 2009 Chardonnay and a 2014 Pinot Noir - both excellent. It was a fabulous experience and made all the more enjoyable by the friendliness and charm of Alain and Natalie - thank you. Richard and...
