A new, well-designed and comfortable (if quite overpriced) chalet apartment. The apartment was positioned on 3 levels and offered a warm and welcoming accommodation. We stayed in a superior apartment with sauna, which was a great addition (despite its tiny size). The dining table was superb (as seen on photographs) although you would need to remove the less-impressive cover to enjoy it. The kitchen was well-equipped and offered everything needed to cook lovely meals. A helpful host, who promptly responded to any queries and attempted to resolve any problems arising (note that host not answering phone between 10pm - 7am). The mountain view from the dining/sitting area was stunning (see photos attached) - the chalet is situated at the back of a quiet neighbourhood and is surrounded by a number of other properties.||||What I disliked: An unexpected hike in price between me starting and finishing the online booking process - by £600, no less, with an additional £100 'lost' between Booking.com statement and the bank statement. The additional end-of-cleaning cost was not stated clearly on Booking.com - for your information, the cost was 160 Euro. Bedlinen charged extra at 25 Euro per person, offering mismatched pillow covers and no hand towels. No washing machine available on the premises. The wi-fi signal was intermittent and we frequently struggled to connect to it in order to use Netflix, etc. The distance to the bus stop was 500-600 metres rather than the stated 200 metres. The apartment has two en-suite bedrooms, with each en-suite bathroom servicing 4 people (if full occupancy) - although an additional shower and 2 toilets were available on the levels below. The bunk beds were not very comfortable, with 2 offering minimal headspace due to the roof beam and the other 2 were located in the games room, which everyone walked through to get to their respective bedrooms. Therefore, only 4 adults could actually enjoy a relaxed and...
Read moreFrom the outset, Pauline was extremely helpful in aiding us with our transfers, ski hire and food/shopping options. When we arrived, we were greeted pleasantly and shown around the chalet, including info about the local area, restaurants etc. Pauline made multiple trips with us to the local supermarket to collect food and drink, though I would advise ordering from the Super-U supermarket and having it delivered (which we did a few days into the week stay just due the volume of food). Nothing was ever too much trouble for Pauline, and she helped drive recycling and bins down to the nearby collection area. She was always on the other end of WhatsApp if required, and it added a really personal touch.
The chalet itself was perfect. It offered everything we required; the views were incredible on a clear day and it was always very warm and very comfortable. The underfloor heating does its job extremely well, and often we turned it right down as the building simply retained heat effectively.
Location wise, its perfect if you're happy to take a short bus into Les Carroz (the bus stop being a short walk) and we did end up walking into the village and back in the evenings as the bus service terminates at circa 6pm. We're all young and mobile, but I wouldn't recommend this for kids or less able persons. The setting was peaceful but close enough to get to and from the village easily.
Lez Carroz was charming - the bars/restaurants were really receptive of such a large group and we returned most evenings. Overall, a fantastic stay and I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone visit Chalet Arpitan! Thanks...
Read moreAmazing experience at Chalet Arpitan. |We planned a (micro) ski wedding at the top of the slopes, which Pauline was instrumental to the planning. So helpful and knowledgeable about the area (from skiing and hiking tips to helping book restaurants at the top of the mountain!). There’s also affordable (and delicious) catering options for the chalet which we used. |The chalet itself was so nice! We used the whole chalet which is a studio apartment attached to another 2 spacious apartments with a living area and a kitchen each. We had enough space for 18 adults and 1 baby. The chalet looks to have been newly renovated and has everything you could need for a ski trip. Super close to the gondola (less than 5 mins driving). |Can’t thank you enough, Pauline! We literally couldn’t have pulled off such a magical weekend...
