This is the best hostel in France, without doubt! The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful, all the rooms are spotlessly clean and very spacious (either two bunk beds or one bunk-bed per room). They have actual electric shutter/blinds for the windows. You are best advised to keep these shut in Summer! Breakfast is much better than average French breakfast, with a selection of five cereals , bakery fresh baguettes and fresh coffee - served up until 10.30am! check out is a very comfortable 11am. Wi-Fi is super fast with two free computer terminals downstairs. Their member's kitchen is also very well equipped, even having a kettle and coffee machine. Everything about this place is great - really can't fault it! And all that only costs €24 - total bargain. It is a 8 to 10 minute walk from the main railway station. NOTE - If you are arriving to the airport, it is actually MUCH easier to take the cheap Number 1 bus (€1.50) and get off 2 stops before the terminus (Railway Station) at the stop called "MEUNIER" - the hostel is a mere 2 to 3 minutes from here! About 60 to 80 minutes ride...
Read moreGood things:-|||| - not too far from train station and fresh food market|| - friendly staff who speaks English as well|| - useful Bordeaux city information and latest events|| - fabulous breakfast (cereals, bread and jam, coffee tea juice chocolate)|| - great kitchen for guest use|| - spacious common area|| - clean and new bedding sheets|| - heater available in room (for winter time)||||However, one thing that need to be aware of. All the rooms (indeed the whole building) has no air-conditioning. I was there in late June, not many guests and this is still acceptable. Not quite sure how it feels when it is in summer time or when the hostel is fully booked||||In the dorm room, no air conditioning and not even electric fan, though there is a big window.||||I think this is acceptable when you know it before checking-in. But seems that this is not mentioned in website and it can be a bit shocked when you know it entering the room.||||Overall speaking, I would recommend this place for sure if you are expecting there is no AC and...
Read moreAs far as a bed for the night is concerned, this is a great place, clean and good showers in the rooms however, the staff seemed very reluctant to help in any way and the whole thing felt a bit cold and lacked an atmosphere! It's super close to the train station which is brilliant for getting up and going somewhere different but it is a bit of a walk away from the centre and not in the best area of Bordeaux (I stayed in a different hostel on the other side of Bordeaux which felt much safer and closer to everything!) There was a lot of noise coming from clubs and people drinking on the streets and it would have been very nice to have been given a heads up about the construction site right outside the doorstep. Definitely take this into consideration if booking for the foreseeable future - the workmen started very early and there were diggers driving around at stupid o'clock in the morning. Apart from that it was an okay stay but I regret staying for 3 nights as it's left me feeling a little...
