Although we paid for a recent multi-night stay at Chateau les Cedres, we left after one night because of the host's rudeness. |Arriving in the village about 1 p.m., we stopped at the chateau gates to inquire what time we could check in later that day. The owner brusquely replied, via intercom, that we could only check in between 6 and 8 p.m. that night and abruptly hung up.|When we returned that evening as directed, the host provided no explanation for the late check-in and instead accused us of trying to access our room early. Although I tried to explain we were only seeking his preferred check-in time, not an early check-in, he wouldn't listen. The interaction left us feeling surprised, disappointed and unwelcome.|Although we'd paid for four nights, we decided to leave after the first night. |In an email exchange, I requested a partial refund, offering to pay for two nights as a compromise as there was no cancellation policy on his website. Read moreMagnificent Manor House from 17th century. Beautifully restored with great attention to balance between old and new.
Franck and his family welcome guests warmly and a very friendly reception. The house is very well appointed with a lounge area complete with fine tea, coffee and a rich library (look out for the transcribed World War Two diary accounting the Dunkirk retreat). There is also a pool table and sauna. We took our two year old Viszla and he loved the large garden. The house is perfect for well behaved dogs. Breakfast is a French bakery feast. Fresh baguette, croissant and pain aux raisins. Yum! We had a perfect stay and the house was only improved upon by Franck’s excellent local knowledge and his recommendations.
Thank you...
Read moreWe stayed at Chateau les Cedres for four nights and had a fantastic time. Franck was an excellent host and was so helpful, recommending and booking restaurants for us. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh pastries and bread, eggs and cheese. The apple juice was fresh and locally produced and probably the best we've ever tasted. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and pool table. We had adjoining rooms in the Chateau as our daughter was with us. The bathroom was huge, with a bath and shower. The location of the Chateau was also excellent, within walking distance of a great restaurant and bar (Les Bretelles) and also a short drive to Bayeux and Juno and...
