This is by far the fanciest Hostel I’ve ever stayed in the past 25 years and unbelievably reasonably priced! Everything is spotless. The spaces are wide open. The food is gourmet and very reasonably priced. The beverage selection is vast. Access is very secure and appreciated, visiting with my 2 teenage daughters. The age of the people staying and working there spans generations. That being said, there are a few opportunities like most European budget accommodations there is no air conditioning. Understood. How about a fan though? Ceiling fans would be amazing! Then we could keep the windows and nice blackout curtains closed to block longer daylight and outdoor noise that is so loud enforce your 10 pm quiet times, see above no AC add a shower curtain to finish closing the shower off so teenagers don’t flood the bathroom while showing and have to use all the towels around to dry it add hooks in the bedroom- either on the walls or the very nice shelves provided. They disappear less often than hammers also!

All said, thank you for the...

We stayed in a private room for one night. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed. Towels, a hairdryer, shampoo gel, soap, and toilet paper were all provided. The sheets, room, and bathroom were spotless. Our room was warm (we stayed in January). The internet worked smoothly both in the lobby and in the room. The staff was polite and helpful. It was definitely a good value-for-money accommodation experience.

For breakfast, you need to pay €12 per person. We checked the breakfast in the morning—it wasn’t bad, but considering the price, we decided not to have it. The hostel’s location is great, close to many places in the city. There’s a free shuttle service to the city center that departs right next to the hostel. We parked our car in the paid parking lot next to the hostel, which cost...

I hate to write negative feedback but feel a responsibility to any future families that might have the misfortune to be given room 505 at The People Caen. ||On first appearances we were delighted with the hostel and room, nicely decorated and friendly staff.||Unfortunately the room we were allocated was infested with bedbugs.||Not one member of staff I spoke to seemed surprised by this and I've since seen numerous online reviews highlighting the bedbug problem on the fifth floor, so I'm both shocked and furious that they would put paying customers WITH SMALL CHILDREN in this "family room".||Please for the love of god, if you decide to stay here, ask not to be put on the fifth floor (it was also 29 degrees C in there with no aircon and one fan...

Lovely clean family room on 1st floor for 1 afternoon and night before morning ferry Caern to Portsmouth. 1 built in bunk bed with shelves and individual lighting and one queen bed. Bunk was big enough for my man size 14 year old. Very ample accommodation for the night. Large clean bathroom with shower toilet and sink. Was 30 degrees and room was hot despite modern freestanding fan. Staff were very friendly and professional. Food was popular with locals on the Sunday evening -Pizzas mainly. Lovely vibe with chilled but lively music in the background. Pizzas cooked fresh in pizza oven. Lovely cocktails too. Short walk to town centre although all shut when we were there as it was a Sunday. Would stay again.
