La Vayssade||||Having visited Cahors in the South of France once before & having seen how pretty and quaint the region was, we requested our hosts in France to get us a Bed and Breakfast type resort / home stay around Cahors. That’s how they through a completely blind search on the net booked us at La Vassayde. ||||Vassayde offered us everything that we wanted from this holiday. It’s entirely run by Emmanuel and Helen a very cheerful, hospitable, energetic and hardworking couple. It is a large farm with at least four farm style old buildings the biggest and best of which is the B & B. The room is a suite which is really spacious and had a separate baby cot for our daughter, and toilet and shower were separate. The Tariff included breakfast which was bread & butter, and croissants & Danish with home made jams (at least 8 of them) with fruit juice, .coffee, tea, milk and fresh fruit and yogurt. Though the property does not serve lunch, they were really sweet about us helping ourselves to the crockery and cutlery for our picnic lunch in the garden. The Village has all of three shops but good enough to buy groceries that you need for lunch. ||||There's lots to see around the village of lalbenque, cycling, walking, swimming in the pool at the property (When the water is warm enough) or just lazing around the village having coffee or lunch or a drink in one of the three or four cafes of the village. ||||The dinner at the Vayssade really rocks. They start you off in the lawn with an appetiser with some savouries while you catch up with the rest of the fellow guests on your day’s activities and then follows an out door meal with 5 courses over at least (what you do not notice) 2/1/2 hours. The meals are entirely made by Emmanuel and Helen and the food is as good as or better than a 5 star experience. The first and second Courses are exquisite and gourmet. We had the most awesome entrees followed by the main course. The first evening we had an exquisite melange of salad vegetables and fruits as an entree with a pulled beef with pumpkin in layers as the main course. The second day with had a Cold Herbed Tomato Soup as the entree and Spiced Lamb with Potatoes. There was of course cheese and salad and a very good fruit based dessert followed by an infusion of some fresh herbs or coffee as you pleased. The food was really outstanding. The attention to detail and the attention to every need of ours by Emmanuel and Helen was really professional and at the same time very personal and touching. ||||The place really ensured you relax. There were hardly any timings, in that, breakfast was from 8.30 am to 11.00 am and since they did not serve lunch and dinner was not mandatory, you could come and go as you please. The main living room had lots of books and enough place to lounge around reading them and the garden had a huge lawn and if you were lucky you could check out the farm’s horses when they came up to the fence to be fed bread. The place was superbly clean. It was a ideal holiday destination and very affordable. ||||I would unhesitatingly recommend it and also realised that they had already established their credibility and reputation with a quick google search. Probably why the place was completely full on the two of the three days that we spent there! I would say that I really enjoyed my stay at any place, when, paying the bill or thanking the hosts on our departure does not feel sufficient to express...

We were a group of six cyclists doing day trips from La Vayssade. (Beautiful cycling country by the way.)||The accommodation and indoor dining and lounge area is in a beautifully converted barn with double-height in the common area. Open beams and comfortable, tasteful furnishings and decorations. My room was comfortable as well with a great shower and plenty of hanging space.||The grounds were very large and pleasant with trees for shade and lots of sleep-inducing chairs. There was plenty of space for the bikes.||We had almost all out meals outside - real treat.||Emanuel did most of the cooking which, because it was so delicious, resulted in us foregoing the delights of sampling nearby restaurants to eat "in", except on his cooking-free night: Aperitifs, (different each night), and nibbles on the lawn followed by a 4-course meal with wine. Breakfasts were also generous including fresh fruit, yoghurts, home-made conserves and warm croissants.||But the highlight was the welcome and care we received from Emanuel and Helene. We arrived back each day exhausted and sweaty from our cycling efforts and the heat to find a tray of cold water and syrups waiting for us. They made themselves available to be around for the uncertain delivery and collection times for our bikes. And most of all very, very kindly collected my mobile, which I had left in Cahors on our journey back to Toulouse airport, and tucked it into one of the saddlebags. They were a most warm and friendly couple and, once they had sized us up, very funny.||I can't recommend this Chambres D'hôtes and Tables highly...

We stayed two nights and had one meal at La Vayssade, and were genuinely impressed by the attention to detail and efforts made by Helène and Emmanuel in managing a beautiful B&B. ||||The space – a restored barn – is simply stunning, and our room was very comfortable. The dinner prepared by our hosts was excellent, and we enjoyed lively and interesting discussions with them and the other guests. Emmanuel also gave us good tips on what to see and do in the region during our short stay. The breakfasts were a sight to behold: fresh bread, croissants, pains au chocolat, a multitude of different homemade jams, juices and more, all presented on a beautifully laid out table. It’s truly one of the nicest breakfasts we’ve ever had! ||||Lalbenque is a quiet village, situated in a lovely region, relatively close to some interesting and beautiful historic sights and towns. We thoroughly enjoyed our few days in the Lot and would recommend La Vayssade to anyone...
