A Mandria — Hotel in Calvi

You don't need to speak French when staying at the small, lovely A Mandria. ||My husband & I have nonexistent French but Flori, the wonderful proprietor has a way of communicating well with limited English. ||We stayed at A Mandria last September during our first trip to Corsica. ||The property is a separate newly renovated stone building with (3) double rooms & at least (1) apartment with a kitchen so more for extended stay.||We loved our upstairs cozy room & modern bath - very romantic. ||I live in the middle on NYC so when I travel I look for places to stay that are more in the country to feed whatever is left of my agrarian soul!||But the property is not in the middle of nowhere but actually just on the edge of a very small town in a residential neighborhood. Flori & her family live in the house next door. We walked into town but basically, you need a car to get anywhere on Corsica. We found A Mandria an excellent base for day trips on this part of the island. ||This northeastern part of Corsica is beautiful and you cannot help but notice the stunning local green stone used on most building exteriors & paving. There is also a wonderful (& famous) restaurant nearby - Ferme Campo di Monte - not to be missed.||Flori's garden provides much of the produce for breakfast & all is either home grown, home baked or produced - as in the heavenly jams & otherworldly honey. Believe me, you will linger over breakfast!||I simply do not have anything the least bit negative to say about A Mandria.||The room was quiet, clean & the bed was comfortable. A Mandria is a beautiful stone B&B set in the mountain village of Murato, Corsica. Centrally located in Haute Corse, it is a half-hour drive from St. Florent (a picturesque costal village in the Patriomonio wine region) or Bastia (a large city with many shops, theatre and a lovely old harbor). We chose A Mandria as our destination two years ago, because we'd always wanted to visit the 'San Michele de Murato' church (ca 1280). Its black and white checkerboard stonework and figurines were even lovelier than we'd imagined, however it was the beauty of the B&B and the welcoming friendship of Pascale and Jose at A Mandria that has stayed with us ever since. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well equipped. Breakfasts are especially memorable, with fresh baked baguettes and Pain au chocolat, Italian coffee, fresh squeezed juice and home made confiture, all in their lovely garden terrace. The town affords beautiful walks, where you will see other churches, and buildings many with the thick slate tiles. You'll also find a butcher, boulangerie, and a handfull of restaurants. Just remember to bring cash as there are no ATMs or banks in Murato, and only a small grocery accepts credit cards. If you forget, you can always take a drive down to St. Florent, and perhaps pick up some bottles from one of the wine caves.Highly recommended as a place to visit, we look forward to our next trip when A Mandria will be our base for day trips tp...

Meine Frau und ich haben uns für unseren ersten Besuch auf Korsika für das wunderschöne "Chambre d'hotes" A Mandria in Murato entschieden. ||||Die Zimmer sowie Studios befinden sich alle in einer liebevoll renovierten alten bergerie und sind mit Geschmack sowie hochwertig Restauriert. ||||Anlage||||Die Anlage ist nicht sehr groß, bietet jedoch alles was man für einen entspannten Urlaub auf Korsika benötigt. Angefangen von einem kleinen Garten, einem wunderschönen Lounge-Bereich nebst Whirlpool sowie einer kleinen Terrasse für jedes der zwei Studios.||||Zimmer/Studio||||Wir hatten für den Zeitraum von einer Woche ein Studio gemietet und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Bad entsprach dem neusten Standard und war, wie auch die Küche und der restliche Bereich des Studios, hochwertig ausgestattet. Eine walk-in-shower, seperate Toilette sowie ein Geschirrspüler in der Küche liesen keine Wünsche offen. Das Bett war ausgesprochen komfortabel. Jedoch sollte man sich auf einige blaue Flecken gefasst machen, da das Schlaf"zimmer" direkt unter dem dach liegt. Die Deckenhöhe ist dementsprechend niedrig, was aber bei einer umgebauten bergerie zu erwarten war.||||Alles in allem waren wir mit dem Zimmer mehr als zufrieden!||||Frühstück||||Das Frühstück sucht seinesgleiche. Die Tische waren allesamt äusserst liebevoll und sehr geschmackvoll eingedeckt. Verwöhnt wurde man mit selbstgemachter Marmelade, frisch gepresstem Orangensaft, sowie selbstgemachten Croissants und Pain Chocolat.||||Atmosphäre||||Pascale Flori ist eine absolut herzliche und freundliche Gastgeberin, welche einem zu jeder Zeit mit einem Lächeln grandiose Tipps für Korsika geben kann. Wir fühlten uns vom ersten Tag an fantastisch aufgehoben und bestens umsorgt. ||||Fazit||||Wir werden Korsika bereits im nächsten Jahr wieder besuchen und definitiv wieder im A Mandria...
