Camping Cardinal Richelieu — Hotel in Chinon

I had booked and paid for a flat in Chinon (non refundable) However my partner fancied staying in Richelieu so we booked Camping Le Cardinal.|I was under the impression I'd booked a chalet with a pool, but was sadly mistaken. We arrived as planned at 4pm to find no staff on site and no way of entering the site as barriers were down, after spending 30 minutes phoning without an answer and searching the site a lady turned up at reception, gave me a barrier pass and the key to our abode. |The accomodation wasn't a chalet with a pool it was a plastic shack with no shower and no toilet in otherwords no more than a plastic box, it was horrendously hot inside, my partner passed out in the heat, we made a quick exit and made use of the flat I had thankfully also booked 30 minutes away in Chinon.|Luckily the Chinon flat was lovely, it was clean cool and spacious with a lovely kitchen, living room and ensuite all for a simmilar price to Camping Le Cardinals plastic sweat box.|The Camping Le Cardinal cost at circa £85.00 English was daylight robbery, I cannot imagine that anyone has actually spent a night in one of these cells and enjoyed it. |If I was offered 1000 Euros to stay for a night I would refuse.|Conversely the chalets on site with their private pools would probably be a reasonable option if you could put up with the rude and extremely late...

A poor welcome as the barriers remain locked when reception is closed.( This happens often as they close it to do other duties around the camp) Otherwise friendly enough. You have to pick a pitch when checking in. Instead of choosing one then reporting it's number back to reception which works well in most other sites. There's a new swimming pool which we were grateful if in the July heat. The toilet block has no loo seats or ever any toilet paper so please remember to bring your own. Showers are labelled for women only so men have to sneak in I assume? Handily situated for access to town centre on...

Fuyez! Une photo vaut mille mots, en voici plusieurs. Mobilhome propre certes, et encore quand on voit la moisissure dans la douche... Par contre les lattes de bois qui lâchent et qui ne sont absolument pas entretenues , on vous les facture sur la caution MENAGE même si votre menage était nickel ! Des campeurs qui ne prennent même pas la peine de se présenter, qui vous informent qu'ils sont " d'astreinte" et qui vous sautent sur le dos si vous ne leur obéissez pas immédiatement. Sans compter sur votre réveil automatique a 8:30 environ grâce aux gloussements de la gérante du camping, avec cette fameuse astreinte devant vos emplacements. Un mobilhome pour 6? Vous n'aurez que 4 ensembles de lits, pas grave les deux autres dorment sans oreillers car " j'en ai pu a disposition....". Enfin... Il y a tellement a dire... Le château gonflable des enfants est allumé et éteint a l'heure que MME L'ASTREINTE aura décidé, les sanitaires hommes sont bouclés des le 18/08, on s'en fou, il n y a plus beaucoup de monde alors on économise le nettoyage a faire , par contre pour prendre l'apéro avec les copains et fumer sa clope sur le trottoir devant l'accueil, le temps n'est pas compté ! Je pourrai écrire encore beaucoup beaucoup de choses mais le plus désobligeant est bien de retenir la caution de 80€ a une personne de 80 ans, pour réparer des choses que l'on entretient pas au quotidien.... Mon present commentaire sera donné en double a monsieur le maire. Ps: 2 chutes grâce à la barrière de piscine qui n'est pas faite pour ce style de piscine, vous auriez mérité que l'on dépose...
