La Petite Cachette — Hotel in Confolens

We had an absolutely fantastic 3-night stay at Le Petite Cachette and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment we arrived, Matt and Corah went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Arriving late after the local supermarket had closed, they kindly offered us food and drinks – a gesture that perfectly set the tone for their warm, thoughtful hospitality throughout our stay.

The bell tent was spacious, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. Everything on site was immaculately maintained – from the grounds to the shower and toilet facilities – and clearly cared for with pride. The tent came well-equipped with everything we needed for a short stay: a plancha grill, fridge, fan, kettle, cutlery, tableware, bin – all the essentials and more.

What really made our trip special was how amazing Matt and Corah were with our two young daughters. They were attentive, friendly, and clearly enjoy making guests feel at ease – we couldn't have asked for better hosts.

The location is also excellent – just a 5-minute walk (or 30-second drive!) to the beach, making it super convenient for relaxed family days out.

If I were to suggest anything, a couple of glasses and a chopping board would be handy additions – but honestly, we managed just fine without them.

If you want peace and quiet in a safe, calm and relaxing atmosphere, then this is the place for you. Matt and Cora offer you a warm welcome and provide you with either enormous pitches (mine was bigger than a tennis court) or gorgeous glamping bell-tents, equipped with everything you could need. Whatever you are short of, Matt and Cora will provide for you.

The facilities are kept exceptionally clean, and the shower isn’t the ‘push button’ type – it’s a real shower, with temperature control. The washing up area even provides soap and dishwashing liquid – these folks are really generous.

Whilst the site is well-suited for those who want peace and serenity, it is situated only 200 yards from the well-developed ‘beach 16’, where you can find facilities for fishing, water sports & swimming. This clean and well-kept beach also has a beach bar and activities for children.

This beautiful campsite is situated in the heart of the French countryside, and is more or less halfway between the beautiful and historic towns of Rochechouart and Chabanais.

We are currently staying at La Petite Cachette, two people and a dog, and we couldn’t be happier. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth and kindness by the wonderful hosts. They are incredibly hospitable, and they really take the time for you. On top of that, you get the freedom to choose your own spot, which makes the experience feel very personal and relaxed.

The grounds is very peaceful, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy nature. It's also extremely pet-friendly, which made our stay even more enjoyable with our dog. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. The showers and toilets are excellent.

But what really makes this place special is the atmosphere. You truly feel at home here. The friendliness of the hosts create a relaxed and welcoming vibe.
