My review is mainly about the "les peupliers" part.
We where at this camping with a tent and a car. At les peupliers the pitches are close together. There even are pitches in the middle, between other pitches. So you can't reach them by car and you have to walk over other peoples pitches. First we got such a pitch. We went back to the reception. They where very friendly and showed us witch other pitches where still available and we could choose witch one we liked best. The pitches are big enough and have shadow. Every pitch has electricity and water.
Toilets and showers are so so... there are multiple buildings, but only 1 new. It is at the beginning of the camping les peupliers. These showers and toilets deserve 4-5 stars. But the other ones are not even worth 2 stars. At this point we do not understand how 'les peupliers' can be a 4 star camping.
The slogan of the camp is: "Un paradis nature au bord de l'eau". This does not count for "les peupliers". Next to this part there is a very! Busy road. Even at night there are cars, motorcycles, trucks, ... passing by. When you sleep in a tent you don't get much sleep. So nature? Not very much...
The river is nice to have next to the campsite, but actually you don't see much of it. So also overrated.
This first part of my review is an analysis of the camping, pitches, hygiene, ...
The second part is about our experience. We normally would have stayed 12 nights. But after 2 we left.
The rules of the camping are clear: no sound at night and cars are not alowed to drive at night. The first night there was a group of young people hanging around the playground. They where very loud (talking, screaming, singing, ...) until 4h30! Then they where running through the streets shouting. The same night: 2 cars drove by.
The second night there was a karaoke in the restaurant. After this was finished people kept on singing. First it was okay, but the later it got, the louder they got. Again a lot of noise until late.
The day after we went to the reception. They understood that we weren't amused and we got our money back. They even offerd us another pith at the 5 star camping, but we did not want to take the risk. When rules are not followed at one part, why would they be followed at the other part?
The people of the reception where very friendly and always understanding. They deserve a star...
Read moreRestaurant and bar are ok, but uncomfortable seating and no fans. You bake under the canopy which is not great for trying to achieve midday shade for drinks or lunch. The pool and pool area is ridiculously overcrowded, claustrophobic and loud. You are lucky to gain a sun lounger, and if you do, do not expect to get it with shade. There are a small handful of parasols which give shade yo around 6 loungers out of around 300. The rest of you have to clamber around sporadic trees, and then rotate themselves around other sun lounger’s clinging for shade, as the sun moves throughout the day. The pools are absolutely chockablock full of kids, jumping, splashing, playing, which is great, if your a kid, if not, it just means you will get to swim a yard at most, and forget being able to get in and out if the pool as they hog those too and lol at you either contempt if you dare to ask them to move. |The ferry is great, and good value, but it takes you to a small island with no amenities which is the local dog beach. After arriving on our first day, we stepped off the ferry and were greeted with a pit bull who squirted out diarrhoea, which owner covered with sand and stuck a stick in?!?! The water is stagnant and smelly on the river side. Go to the open sea side where the water is clearer but take beach shoes, it’s hard to get in and out if the sea. |The evening entertainment or lack of is poor. We saw one band in a week, who played some strange elevator music for about an hour. The rest of the week was a bit of music played from a speaker.||The homes are modern and well equipped and we slept well, apart from a monster truck convention in the field next to the park, ||Overall, the site is let down by the pool and the lack of entertainment, we had to leave in the day and the evening as it did not meet our requirements. If you’re using this as a base whilst venturing the south coast great. If not,...
Read moreWe had a rat in our mobile home. The bungalow was not cleaned beforehand, and it was evident that it was a privately owned mobile home rented out by the campsite for some private owners. This meant that the decor and so on were personal, with pictures of the family that normally owned the mobile home.||Additionally, they initially gave us a bungalow that was already rented out to someone else. It was very awkward to knock on “our new” mobile home and ask the people inside if they were also supposed to stay there. They were, so we had to go back to the reception and explain that there must have been a mistake. We were then given another mobile home.||The following night, when we heard rustling from the kitchen, we discovered that there were rats in our mobile home. When we mentioned this to the reception, their first reaction was that since it was a nature site, it could happen, but they would send the man who could remove the rats to our mobile home. We said that we no longer wanted to stay in that mobile home as it was too disgusting to have rats in the kitchen.||At first, we were told that there was nowhere else to stay, so they couldn’t help us. When we insisted on speaking with the manager, they suddenly managed to find another mobile home for us.||The pool area is not suitable for children under 6-7 years old, as the only pool where they can touch the bottom is not warm. It is downright cold, so they don’t play there for long. The other pools are fine and just as they should be.||When we arrived, we bought some food at the restaurant by the pool. The pizza was a frozen pizza, and the salad was also a ready-made salad directly from a factory. Nothing was made in the kitchen; everything was heated in something that resembles a microwave.||Overall, Camping Sandaya L’Étoile d’Argens is far from a 5-star experience, not at all! It is more likely...
