ROOM: 8/10: clean, good privacy and great bathrooms.||BREAKFAST: 7/10: For the bread there’s a variety of jam, chocolate spread and just cheese and ham. In my opinion I would have liked to see more charcuterie/cheese. For cereals a 7/10 as it looks good. Eggs you can boil as you like.||DINNER: 4/10: For 25 euro you get a starter soup or pate, a potato gratin and a piece of cake as desert. In my opinion very limited for 25 euro/ I would call this very stingy.||The a la carte pizza is okay, like a good supermarket pizza. The pasta is horrible, no taste.||SERVICE: 4/10 They bring your food and your drinks to your table but can’t be bothered to take the dishes. Furthermore the walk to the skiroom and/or the entrance could be horribly slippery as it’s not taken care of. There’s no reception in daytime which might cause people to walk around the premises as there’s no one to answer their questions.||LOCATION: 7/10 It’s right on the slopes so ideal to ski but the village Oz has not much to offer if you look for some fun.||ATMOSPHERE: 6/10 It can be confusing. The hostel part (30% of the place) is empty most of the time. I missed the international vibes. Then there are the couples which stay a lot in the dorms instead of just in a room. Family with kids occupy most of the place during my stay and it was impossible to find a quiet place to relax or a room to gather together with like minded people.||Be aware there’s no place to make your own food. You can use the microwaves or make yourself a cup of tea or coffee as you can use the kettle.||WIFI: 2/10 just very poor.||I stayed in total 30 days in the Moontain during Christmas/newyear and the February school holiday. Both times in a dorm. I found the 12 bed dorm the best as it provides you most privacy and even with my daughter it felt save. I guess it helps that there were only 3 paying guest in the room.||I will return in the 12 deb dorm. I won’t eat here again except of the express breakfast. I would not stay here with my family again as I can find much better options to stay especially as they charge an 11 year old as an adult.|| The ski area is good. Tips for the area are: Order a farmers chicken or pizza in the Sherpa, the local supermarket and eat it in the hostel. Prices for beer are very reasonable in the hostel. If you like a good dinner visit La Cure in the village Oz en Oisans but you need a car or grab a taxi but it’s worth every penny. On the mountain there’s only one restaurant at the bottom of the Sarenne. It’s outstanding for service and...
Read moreWe had a fantastic stay from the minute we arrived. There were 17 of us in the party and the staff did their upmost to provide the most amazing service. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt comfortable and provided for at all times. |We had 9 children with us and they were very lively and loud at times but the staff were patient and helpful with their food requirements etc. |We consisted of 4 families and we all had our own private rooms with bathroom which were very cute, clean and warm. |The food in the evening was incredible. Hearty warm filling dishes, just what you need after a long day skiing. They kept it coming if you asked for more. Our children were a tad fussy on the odd night so would have preferred something more basic but they survived!!|The location is brilliant. You get a button lift straight up and then ski over to where you can get gondolas up either mountain. Then afterwards we would sit in the town and have a quick beer and then ski right back down to the Moontain. |This is definitely like a boutique hotel rather than your usual hostel. |I would love to return here and will definitely recommend it to our friends. |My twins thoroughly enjoyed every moment. |Julia was like our very own assistant and Adrienne was always smiling and very informative. |Keep it up guys!...
Read moreThank you so much! We stayed for the Megavalanche MTB race 2025 - one of the best hostels we have stayed at! And ideal for what we came to the alps for. So many great people, and the staff were incredible. Adeline and Thibault were exceptional, very welcoming and friendly and always up for a chat. Adeline was a great chef, and Thibault made having a drink at the hostel bar a fab experience. Only problem we encountered was the main lift to alpe d’huez was out for maintenance, but we found ways to get around, would recommend checking working lifts before booking a place. We loved the mountain aesthetic of the place and the facilities were impressive (curtains on every bunk) - exactly what we needed as mountain...
