Sancy Resort — Hotel in Issoire

'We will ruin your mood - and you will pay for it' - should we the slogan of this hotel. Beautiful location, beautiful hotel, but the way the business & service is ran is completely unacceptable. We stayed here right after our engagement and booked the hotel specifically for the spa area at x2 the price on Booking.com as it was over the weekend. 1) the spa was not available and is at extra charge - for 4 people - extra 60 euros. 2) the cleaning fee is not included (we specifically chose a hotel for this, not airbnb) and is additional 30-60 euros - so prepare to clean yourself. 3) the staff said to us that breakfast was included - it wasn't - additional 48 euros. 4) receptionist was nice and spoke some English, but miscommunicated about the 'included breakfast', the girl at breakfast was extremely rude and after speaking with us in perfect English, and seeing us confused about the additional charge, said in perfect English 'I don't speak English', which was a lie. 5) you would expect the service at such a hotel and especially since we told them that this we just got engaged, to be exceptional, but the staff didn't offer anything else to cover for their own miscommunication, misunderstanding and plain rudeness. We loved the hotel itself, but couldn't wait to leave the place in the morning with our whole trip completely ruined by the hotel staff. As part of a stop over on a trip to the south of France we wanted a nice clean apartment for our family for a couple of days. This is exactly what we got. We booked the three bedroom apartment which was spacious, clean and well laid out. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the apartment could not have been better.|Sadly there was no lifts so if you need easy access then the bigger apartments would not be for you. |Coming to a skiing lodge in the summer may seem odd, and for sure the hotel was not busy, but it was lovely. We stayed in this resort on a 2-night stopover. The appartments are clean, modern and beds very comfortable. This is not a hotel but self-catering units, there is no restaurant and no breakfast service. The closest supermarket is 10 km away. If you're looking for a quiet place to have a break or into hiking, this is it. The lake also has a nice beach but is 6 km away. We were a bit surprised about the end-of-stay cleaning policy, basically, you have to clean the whole appartment yourself and take off the bed sheets. The owners lend you all the necessary cleaning equipment but it is a bit off-puting. The spa only has a small outdoor jacuzzi and a sauna that has to be turned on 1 hour before use.
