Visited on 9/25 for seven days. I’m a Marriott Gold Elite member and visited France and EU several times.
We arrived at 2:45pm on a Tuesday and we were told there would be an hour wait before our 2 rooms would be ready. Check-in is 3pm. We asked for a manager and was told it would be about 15mins. We waited nearby the front desk in the lounge area. An hour later, my wife approached the front desk to ask for an update. She was told the rooms have been ready for 30 mins. Why the front desk staff did not alert us to this fact, when we were 20 feet away, is puzzling to me.
After waiting an hour for the room, they give us a handicap room. Sigh. After calling back to the front desk, they corrected to another room.
Upon returning to the hotel one evening during our stay, we wanted to have a snack and some drinks in the restaurant. There was a large party still in the restaurant. Amal, a lead waitress, tells us the kitchen was closed as we enter the eating area. Another waitress comes to table where we sat, and informs us that the kitchen is still open and what would we like. Amal did not provide accurate information to us!
The waitress that served us was helpful, but whenever Amal came to the table, she had an bad attitude and abrupt service. She forgot my son’s drink from the bar which was ordered at the same time as everything else. We patiently waited until the food and drinks were brought to the table. When we asked about the missing drink, Amal says the bar is now closed! She was rude about it and treated us as if we made the mistake. Very poor service.
The next day I informed Ms Parrot of the situation, a manager, she remarked she was surprised this happened and I should not have gotten this type of treatment. I asked the manager for a simple apology from the waitress prior to our departure which was 2 days away. The manager agreed that this was a reasonable request.
Two days passed by and upon checkout, I asked for a manager to inquire for a follow-up. Ms. Parrot was there and told me that an apology was not going to happen as Amal said she did nothing wrong!
I was extremely disappointed with the service at this hotel.
On a positive note, Antionette, part of the front desk staff, was very pleasant and helped us with a few things needed...
Read moreDeeply Disappointed by Courtyard’s Air Conditioning Policy—Never Again
I’m writing this review out of sheer frustration with the Courtyard Marriott Paris Arcueil, and more broadly, the Courtyard brand’s outdated and unacceptable air conditioning policy. This is the second time we’ve stayed at a Courtyard in Paris this year, outside of the summer months, and it’s the second time we’ve been utterly let down.
First off, let me emphasize that a restful night’s sleep is fundamental to any hotel stay, especially for frequent travelers like me who value comfort and relaxation. Yet Courtyard’s air conditioning practices make this impossible. Despite the season, the hotel completely shuts off the cooling system and only provides heating. In 2024, it’s mind-boggling that a global hotel brand still operates with such an antiquated policy that goes against the basic principles of healthy sleep.
The human body requires a cool and dark environment to properly relax and recover overnight. This is not just a preference—it’s a matter of health and well-being. However, when we called to request the thermostat to be unblocked, the staff’s solution was to “open the window.” Seriously? Opening the window introduced a whole host of new problems: mosquitoes, noise from the street, and light pouring into the room. Needless to say, we barely slept at all.
As a Bonvoy Gold Elite member, I expect a certain standard of comfort and service, but Courtyard has failed me not once, but twice. Their refusal to provide a proper air conditioning system demonstrates a complete disregard for their guests’ needs. It’s baffling to me that this is still the policy in Paris, a major global city, where guests come expecting at least basic modern amenities.
I will never stay at another Courtyard in Paris again. This experience has been nothing short of unacceptable. Courtyard Marriott, you have lost a loyal customer, and I urge others to reconsider before booking a stay at any of...
Read moreThe rooms are small for the price you pay, the ceiling is too low and the air conditioning is noisy. The bed and the pillow were comfortable, the bathroom is modern (good quality shampoo, conditioner and shower gel available), everything was clean. I had a beautiful terrace with lounge furniture, but unfortunately it was facing a shopping mall. For me was ok, because I was there for business. Available in the room: safe, hairdryer, bathrope, slippers, dental set (mouth wash including), sewing set, iron and iron table, coffee maker, water boiler, fridge, etc. Unfortunately the walls are too thin and you can even hear/feel the vibrations of the cell phones in the near rooms. There is a water fontein on the corridor (good quality water). Breakfast was disappointing in variation (every day the same), not enough vegetables. Coffee and thee were good and to go cups are available (perfect for business people going to work). I had lunch there only once, but the food was not OK for a 4 stars hotel. The staff was friendly (reception and restaurant) and helpful. Communication in English was smooth. There is a small gym. The location of the hotel is outside Paris (going south), good restaurants around the hotel and a shopping mall. If you are OK with walking 10 minutes, from subway station Barbara you can easily access all the turistic attractions and the north...
