This hotel is in a lovely setting, the building is just beautiful, our room was clean and spacious and the staff were efficient and generally friendly. The reason I am only giving three stars is because the dinner that we had in the very expensive restaurant was a real disappointment. When I telephoned in to book the room and to reserve a place for dinner in the restaurant I asked whether the chef could make us a vegan dinner. We were assured that this wasn't a problem and that the chef would be able to cook us a vegan meal. Sadly, what we were presented with was a real disappointment. The starter was a gazpacho soup - which was fine but nothing spectacular, but then for the main course we were just given a plate of cooked, salted vegetables - with nothing else! There was no protein source and no carbohydrates (apart from a basket of bread rolls). For example: there were no grains, no pulses or nut protein to help supplement the meal - and there was definitely no imagination. Anyone can steam a load of vegetables... We really expected more from a supposedly quality restaurant. The cost of the meal (drinks not included) was 50€ per head, which would have been fine if the meal was interesting and nutritious, but sadly there was absolutely no thought put into that meal and we left feeling undernourished and disappointed. I think that if this hotel says they can do a vegan meal, then they should make the "chef" go on a course to learn how to provide interesting and nutritious food for vegans. If we had known that we were only going to receive a plate of vegetables we would not have booked the restaurant in the first place and we would have eaten elsewhere - but we were assured that the chef would be able to cook vegan, which is why we stayed. Sadly he has...
Read moreArriving in early September, one can almost feel the sigh of relief of staff and the hotel to have some breathing space after the peak summer season. Whilst this did not effect the warm welcome from the staff, there was a slight feeling of anti-climax in the general feel of the hotel; the grounds were windswept, the corridors echoing and the car park virtually empty.||The surroundings are very pleasant, although with the tennis court looking neglected, the banqueting suite shut up and the bar bereft of custom, things felt a little flat. One therefore might expect that the Gourmet Stop, if priced competitively, might attract some late season custom. As it turns out, at €355, it might not represent the bargain one might be expecting - B&B €195 in a Prestige Room, and Sequoia Menu €70 pp looks pretty standard to me!||The room was pleasant, if a little stark, but all this was compensated for by the superb evening meal and a most excellent breakfast.|The moral of this story is clearly ‘do the math’ and work out if you really are being made an ‘offer’ or just a repackaged standard overnight stay. ||So, despite feeling slightly hoodwinked by the marketeers, I would recommend a stay at the Le Mans Country Club. Better still, book in somewhere down the road at a cheaper rate and come...
Read moreWe booked two rooms at the hotel and were really inspired to visit Le Mans country club. Due to ongoing strikes affecting European airports, we were unable to reach hotel as planned. Prepayment was made for 100% and we asked for full/part/any compensation because of force major (beyond our control). ||We were absolutely happy when hotel representative confirmed that the police is not allow them to compensate full amount, but a part of it. But already in next letter they stated than we have paid only part of amount and nothing will be refunded, when the proof of payment were attached and still refused to refund anything. ||The lady over the phone in not polite way said that she is too busy to have any conversation in this regard and she doesn't care what was stated in letter and they will refund nothing. ||We were absolutely puzzled of communication manner especially after the first confirming letter. ||We will think twice to recommend our friend to have...
