The manager at this hotel on the evening of 17 August was one of the nastiest people I have ever met in my life.|||| We (a couple with a child) arrived after a very long drive from Germany and started to park. As we have a trailer we need two parking spaces. A man with a name tag identifying him as “Gregory” came out and, without any niceties such as a greeting, informed us in a rude and aggressive manner that we could not have two spaces. He was from the outset clearly not inclined to be helpful in any way. We offered to pay extra for a second space but he just ignored this. Eventually he said very begrudgingly that we could park our trailer on the grass verge. We said OK, fine. He then went back into the hotel, whereas a normal manager would have stayed in the car park and tried to help us park (not easy to get the trailer up onto the verge).||||While my husband was starting to park I saw to my dismay on Booking.com that our booking had been cancelled. (There appears to have been some weird glitch in their system, I had received a notification from the Booking.com app two hours earlier that a taxi ride I had booked with them several months earlier had been “cancelled”, I had no idea what they were on about and so had ignored this). Anyway, whatever had happened, there had clearly been some kind of error. I went into the hotel reception to try and sort it out. ||||Gregory was just unbelievable. He told me that he could do absolutely nothing, in an incredibly rude manner, saying that my payment card was “not good". I asked if he could please tell me the number of the bank card I had used, as I was not aware of a problem with any of my cards. The booking had not been prepaid and so I also asked if I could perhaps try another card. He did not reply to either of these requests, and then actually turned his back on me. I asked him again tell me the card number No response. ||||I then asked him if I could perhaps just make a new booking and still he ignored me. I asked if he had any suggestions as to what we could do to try and sort things out, and his reply was to tell me “you get out” in an aggressive and intimidating manner. I told him he was being incredibly unhelpful and he shrugged his shoulders, pulled a face, waved his arms and then walked away from me. Another man was with him and he did absolutely nothing. No consideration by either of them for the fact that it was late in the evening and we had a child with us and obviously nowhere to stay. ||||I am have to admit this man and his behaviour really riled me, and I became annoyed and swore as I left the reception. His reaction was to come out and threaten to call the police as we were pulling out of the car park. (I am not sure what the police would have added to the situation, as we were leaving anyway. He was certainly not afraid of me, he was a very large man and I am a small woman in my 60s. My husband never even got out of the car). ||||Of course I am complaining to Gregory's employer (and asking Booking.com what happened with the booking) but I also want to warn everyone not to stay in a hotel that employs this dreadfully rude and downright nasty person. Is this really how France wants to portray itself...
Read moreThis is a budget hotel.
It is basic but delivers everything you need for a budget price.
The location isn’t ideal if you need to walk into Honfleur but it’s close enough. It is however near to a few places to eat and grocery shops. I recommend Amoretto for a good value Italian meal 10 minutes away.
The hotel is very clean and well presented. The staff were friendly and generally very professional. On one morning breakfast was several minutes late but aside from that everything was good.
Rooms are compact but functional. The en-suite bathroom is small but again it’s perfectly functional. The shower is reminiscent of a caravan or overnight ferry but the water was hot and plentiful.
Breakfast was a basic continental affair. Freshly baked croissants were accompanied by baguette, wholemeal sliced bread (with a toaster) yoghurts and conserves. Drinks were orange juice and a coffee machine which provided a full array of coffee choices. All sufficient but no fresh fruit or meats/cheeses. Not ideal if you are on a low carbohydrate diet 😬.
For the price we paid (approximately €70 including breakfast) it does the basics very well. It is not pretending to be anything more expensive so it’s true to itself. I would certainly recommend this hotel for an...
Read moreCurrently in hotel as I draft this. The rooms are really small. Compact would be another word to use. Very much the style of motels in the states but smaller. The hotel is external walkways to your hotel room. That does not bother me. Rooms were clean. Bathroom definitely out of a caravan. Molded plastic thing. No aircon and the window opens fully or not at all. Currently have the door wedged open by a chair. Trying to cool it down.|Free ample parking, pleasant staff. Hotel 25 mins walk down a main busy road with no dedicated footpath for a certain distance. No good for prams or with young children. Please look to see if there is a different route, but the direct route there is no path. We walked in and back, nothing apart from McDonald's around hotel, so will either take car or get taxi back into town. 90 euro a night we paid. I think that is over priced but perhaps I am payi g more due to season, I did book 3 months ago? So not sure? I booked this place for a stop off on our route back to UK. If I was coming to Honfleur for a break this would not be my hotel...
