We recommend Novotel to all our friends who travel through France.
After a stay here, I'm sorry but we can't any more.
We stayed here recently (21st August 2025). Originally given room 120. As I opened the door, the room stank of raw sewage (and I've not got a great sense of smell!).
We were moved to room 110, a few doors down. It was better but there was still a smell in the room. Alas, we just wanted a bed for the night so persevered.
The room was stuffy (wasn't particularly warm outside, 23-25 Deg) but even that was too much for the ancient air conditioning.
Later in the evening, we discovered that all occupants were using the female toilet (12 y/o daughter said a man went into the toilet while she was in there because the gents was out of order). Would have been good to have known this. Apparently they'd been out of action for some time. Perhaps prioritise sorting those rather than damaging your brand and reputation by being greedy.
We thought a dip in the pool would be a break ... But that too was tired and dirty.
The staff were generally helpful, despite the receptionist being dismissive of our claim the second room also smelled (it did but nothing a dose of daughter's perfume couldn't mask for a while).
In conclusion, some Novotels are great (Nancy for example), but this one is tired and really needs a refurb and some immediate works to the drainage.
We may well stay at another Novotel in future but we certainly won't recommend them as readily as before.
I hope Novotel read this and take note. You might have had another night's accommodation out of us this time but you have certainly coat your company more by allowing bookings whilst the hotel is in the condition it's in. Very...
Read moreDear Novotel Metz Amneville,
I hope this message finds you well. I would like to provide some feedback on our recent stay at your establishment. Let me commence with the positive aspects:
The staff demonstrated commendable friendliness and helpfulness. The breakfast menu exhibited an excellent selection, catering to the diverse nationalities of your clientele. Timely responses were received to online messages, which is greatly appreciated. However, I must bring to your attention some areas of concern:
The room's decorations appear dated. The presence of moulds in the bathroom, as evidenced in the attached pictures. Despite cleaning efforts, a lingering urine odour in the toilet suggests a potential issue with the flooring underlay. The gym's operational hours from 9 am to 9 pm are not accommodating for early risers seeking to exercise. The sofa bed exhibited loose slots, resulting in detachment. These observations are unexpected for a facility advertised as a 4-star hotel. Having experienced the standards of another 4-star establishment, Novotel, which exceeded expectations, I believe there is room for improvement at this location.
I share this feedback with the hope that management will take note and consider implementing necessary changes. Addressing these concerns will not only enhance the experience for future guests but also contribute to increased patronage.
Thank you for your attention to these matters, and I trust that you will take the appropriate actions to uphold the reputation of your establishment.
Best...
Read moreWould stay again, but I’m kind of torn about this hotel. I stayed here two Saturdays as a travel stop and it definitely doesn’t keep up with the standard of other Novotel hotels, not sure it should be one to be honest.
First the positives: great location for a travel stop competitive price very friendly staff Some local beers from Metz are available at the bar. Was unfortunately not mentioned when I asked for dinner beer options. My request for a baby cot was confirmed quickly and the room was set up perfectly in advance.
My pain points: hotel rooms are okay standard, once we had no fridge, once we had once the bed sheet was too small for the bed and it moved of the bed at night breakfast is okay. Absolutely avoid the 8am rush, as the breakfast area is not big enough for the amount of people. The scrambled eggs are made of cheap egg powder and are terrible. There was a boiled egg maker the first Saturday, which was great, but missing on the second! Why? the second Saturday we chose to have dinner. Not great value for money. The salad was great, but the salmon for 20 Euros was not up to standards. Just a salmon filet and some fries. No sides like vegetables? Crazy… you’re better off going somewhere externally. Only 15 minutes drive away is a forrest holiday area with plenty of good options, close to the zoo.
Hence, I probably would stay again, but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Price-value compared to other local options seems to the...
