Eus is a magical place, a totally unspoiled hilltop village about 40 minutes from Perpignan on the road up to Andorra. The winding stone pathways lead to a charming church at the top. Most "streets" are narrow passageways. In the summer there is a cafe and a small restaurant, and several artists studios, but for most of the year the village is peaceful and idyllic. There are no hotels or inns in the village. But there are many hiking paths leading to other tiny sites and villages.||Casa Ilicia is perfect. Fairly low down in the village so more easily accessible, but with an amazing view of Mt. Canigou. The room is large, comfortably furnished, with a gas fireplace heater and a private balcony. Claudia was away when we stayed, but she was totally easy to deal with to make the arrangements. ||If you get a chance to visit Eus, and stay in Casa Ilicia, you are a very...

Claudia and her husband welcomed us warmly to the home that they have built with their own hands over the past years. Breakfast was excellent and relaxed and included home-made jams and breads. We quickly made friends with both our hosts and the other guests. Eus is a beautiful, hillside village, that has been reconstructed almost entirely from ruins. It has a reputation as the sunniest village in France, is largely car-free and is an excellent starting point for hikes and mountain biking. The only very slight minus was the bed, which my wife found rather hard. ||Highly...
Read moreWe had a nice stay here. As expected the village was beautiful. We were disappointed though that the terrace we had seen so many pictures of, was apparently off limits to us. We were given access to a top terrace, which had no sun and mouldy patio chairs. There was also no indoor common space or basic kitchen appliances for guests ( which made our stay difficult since they don't offer a 'table d'hôte '). We were very nicely given access to another room since we were a large group and hanging out in somebody's bedroom would be uncomfortable, but this is likely not always possible. Overall very warm welcome, but lacking...
