We are returning for our 3rd visit this year. We fell in love with the area when we first visited 5 years ago. La Palmyre is great for families and Oree du Bois has lovely facilities. ||Sadly, a lot has deteriorated since our first visit:||When we first came there was a bouncy castle for children in a great location next to the bar and evening entertainment. This was moved a few years ago to the forest at the top of the complex which is not as accessible. ||There were communal bbqs around the complex that have been taken down. Very sad 😔. ||There were table tennis tables next to the pétanque that have now been replaced with an instagram photo spot. ||During the olympics, the main screen at the stage shows Sandaya promotions on repeat instead of the Olympic Games. The pool table is often pushed up against the door in the bar to allow for a smaller screen showing the olympics. ||Many things are often out of order, air hockey, arcade manchines etc. Multiple Euros have been eaten by broken machines. With the poor quality of customer service by young inexperienced staff it isn’t even worth trying to negotiate a return. |||At the bar, staff are all very young and inexperienced. They have a lot to learn with their customer service skills. Multiple times orders on drinks were incorrect. When addressed, a group of teenagers get the hump. On three occasions I’ve had to return to bar to get the correct drink. ||It’s a shame because our family have loved it here previously so it is with a heavy heart I write this review. There are still plenty of positives. The pool is great and the location is wonderful. However, we will definitely consider a new camping place in the area next time and have a look at what...
Read moreThis is an absolutely lovely campsite. We visited during the English May half term and stayed in the Premium Cocoon area. We were delighted with our accommodation which was modern, spacious and spotless. The setting of the Cocoon area was gorgeous with a very rustic/natural vibe - lots of planting and no cars (parking is very close and there are a number of wheelbarrows to hand if you need them to help with bags etc) - we think it was worth the extra cost for us.|It was very quiet when we visited so cannot comment on the pool in high season, but for our purposes it was brilliant. Two teenage children very happy with the slides and lazy river. The pool was heated as well so no qualms about temperature. |The on site shop was very well stocked and the lady that worked there was a joy. You can order bread (either baguette or pain de tradition), croissants/pain au chocolat/raisin - just pop in the afternoon before and give your name and order. You can either pay at the time of order or on collection.|The bar wasn't very busy on the couple of times we visited but they did do a nice Mojito! (Not the cheapest though). We didn't use the restaurant. You can see the cost of things on the app.|There is also a fab football/basketball space within the site so would recommend taking a ball if of interest.|Finally, the Indian Forest Adventure next door was first class. Brilliant instructors and a real range of courses for...
Read moreMy family and I stayed for a week. The below summarises my experience:
The good: -Plenty of clean and avaliable showers, wash facilities and toilets. -Friendly staff. -Good adventure pool (note: speedos are required, but are sold in the local shop). -Well stocked shop on site. -Beaches within a 10 minute drive. -Family entertainment. -Fridges can be rented, but there is a limited supply. -Premium lodges are well stocked and comfortable. -Luna Park close by, along with carting and quad riding.
The bad: -Very noisey entertainment continues until 11:30 every night, with staff shouting into microphones and loud music that echos across the site. After this, children continued screaming and shouting until gone 12:30 each night. -Pool is not really large enough for the site and gets very busy. -Steps up to pool slides cut open my daughters feet. This is a known issue with the life guards, but not corrected. Beach shoes cannot be worn into the pool. -WiFi is an optional paid extra but does not work, so don't waste your money. -Pitches are smaller than they appear in the pictures. Still big enough for us, but some larger caravans/motor homes will struggle. -Road noise can be an issue from racing motorbikes and cars on the main road, especially around 2am when Luna Park closes. -Screaming can be heard from Luna Park, which remains open until 2am. People leaving the park...
