The apartment we hired had two small bedrooms. It was on the fith floor without lift. So, we had to drag up our heavy suitcases after a long journey. The apartment was not very clean at first sight. As we were paying more attention to details we discovered more filthy things. Anyway, we tried to cloth the beds without vomiting. The matresses were full of human fluids. We tried to turn the matresses over but the other side was almost the same. We spent 6 days trying not to move too much during the night to avoid touching the matress directly. Behind the sofa and in every corner was it was full of dirt for long ago. The toilet, you can imagine the kind of stains we preferred not to analyse. As the apartment was quite old, some of the gaps between the wood beams and the walls were stuffed up with toilet paper to avoid the wind coming in. Therefore, we spent the six days trying to forget about these things. ||The worst part came the last day with the checking out. We were informed on the first day that we had to leave the apartment without trash or rubbish, we did it. Also we had to take the used bed clothes on a pile at reception, something strange, but we did it. And we cleaned the apartment as we had already done in the dozens of apartments we had hired previously all around the world, including in France. When we were to leave the keys in reception, a rude woman said to us that a person was coming with us to check the apartment. That was normal to us, maybe somethig was broken, the tv, or something. But it was nothing like that. The woman who came with us was the cleaner, she started to tell us that the apartment was not clean enough. Something that We didn't agree with. Ok, as we are respectful people, we didn't want to argue and spoil our last day on the slopes we followed her instructions. She made us clean the whole apartment, leaving it cleaner as we found it. She even didn't have a mop, so she filed up a bucket with water and gave me a disgusting old cloth to clean all the floor, She even insulted me saying 'Est-ce que tu ne savais pas fer la menage'. Please, I thought that the times of slaves had ended. We tried to finish the cleaning of the apartment without arguing any more and escape without more delay. Of course we lost two hours of our time of skiing. We spent 1600 euros for 6 nights on a filthy apartment with staff without manners.||We didn't use the swimming pool as the conditions of cleaning were similar all around, we were not eager to spend more time around dirty places. As you can imagine we won't come back again, and I recommend you not to go.||I was reluctant to write this comment because I wanted to forget all this bad episode of my holidays, but my son-in-law insisted, and he is right. More peple need to know about this before booking.||Only we want to mention about one woman from reception who was a normal and helpful person. She had blue eyes, but I don't know her name. I wouldn't like to include her in my comment. ||Attached you will find photos of the filthy apartment as we arrived to give some evidence...
Read moreWe are regulars at the Residence at Orelle (we usually book our apartment via Alpvision), and it is a lovely convenient place to stay when self driving to the 3 Valleys. It is only a few minutes from the motorway (no driving up long windy mountain roads), yet is very close to the Orelle telecabine entrance to the 3 Valleys ski area. There’s a continuous shuttle bus from the Residence door to the lift (it’s about three minutes down the hill), or you can pile your gear into your car and drive down and use the free car park. Once you arrive at the ski area you can explore the Orelle slopes or easily continue over to Val Thorens and beyond. Right by the lift is a ski hire shop and a ski school office.||The apartments at the Residence are simple, but well equipped – dishwasher, hob, fridge, microwave, etc. Bed linen and towels are available, but many of the guests are self driving and so bring their own from home. There's a launderette available too, although we haven't needed to use it yet. Each of the apartments has a balcony, and the wifi has always worked well for us. There’s a swimming pool, sauna, etc all included in the price of your rental, and other spa treatments are available at an extra cost. There’s a nice bar and restaurant on site, as well as a grocery store. Orelle itself is small – but growing – but you can drive a few minutes in either direction to find shops and restaurants in either Modane or St Michel du Maurienne.||We also like the option of visiting several smaller ski resorts when we stay in Orelle. The likes of La Norma, Val Cenis, Valloire, etc are only a few minutes’ drive away and great fun to try out if you fancy a change (or if there are high winds and the telecabine isn’t operating – this does happen occasionally).||If you are looking for nightlife and lively apres ski, then Orelle probably isn’t for you. If you are looking for good value self catering with a pool - and plenty of options for further exploration - then it is definitely...
Read moreI do not recommend this place!!!! This property is robbing guests! First of all, the facility is very old, all the equipment is old and broken, the WiFi is practically non-functional. You have to take a ski bus to the gondola, there is no other shop in the area except the hotel one with very high prices. But the worst thing is the service, very rude, the lady at the reception shouts at everyone and behaves as if she was pissed that some guests came at all. In addition, a final cleaning fee was charged upon arrival and a €400 deposit was blocked on the credit card. Interestingly, the deposit is not returned at check-out, nor is the room checked by the check-out with the guests present. We waited 2 weeks for the return of the deposit, then suddenly, without any information and our authorization, 100 Euro was taken from our credit card. And let me just remind you that we were charged for the final cleaning earlier, and we left the apartment in a very good condition. We washed and put all the dishes in the cupboards, cleaned the kitchens, the fridge, threw away all the garbage, folded the blankets, pillows and covered the bed with a bedspread. This is absurd and plain theft. I advise you stay away from this facility! I wouldn't recommend it even...
