Gorgeous site on the banks of the Dordogne. The river is not visible from most of the site but is accessible from the back corner where the canoes launch from. Everything is very clean and tidy, pitches are varying size but mostly fairly big. There are a lot of cabins but they are well landscaped and do not detract from the site. Washrooms are good, there are also wash up and laundry areas. The on site pool is lovely. There is a bar and cafe on site which we didn't use. The village is a short walk and has a small well stocked shop ( none on site but bread etc can be ordered) and a bar a restaurant..||Canoeing from the site was fantastic and the cycle path to Sarlat is very good and almost flat. The site seems to attract a wide range of nationalities which was lovely. Minor complaints from us about the water pressure which is very low and hook up points which are few are far between. Would definitely come back here if returning...
Read moreSpent a fantastic 6 days here in the middle of August 2015. Family run campsite, fantastic clean facilities, shady private pitches, excellent swimming pool and literally on the bank of the river Dordogne. Really friendly owners, who put on entertainment in the bar of an evening with their whole family and encourage everybody to join in. Not so many British campers, but we didn't mind that - we wouldn't go to France to be surrounded by English! Make sure you hire a canoe and take the very leisurely paddle down to Vitrac (or beyond) - a good value morning out in a beautiful setting, and there really isn't much more to do than steel your boat and let the current take you. The surrounding area is stunning, make sure to visit Sarlat, Rocamadour, and any of the fantastic caves. Tried to book to go back again this year, but they were fully booked...
Read moreWe spent a wonderful 3 weeks camping at Le Plein Air des Bories in July 2023. The new owners and all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The emplacements are large and most are well shaded. The swimming pool is large, but not too deep, and usually partially covered which is great for children who are sensitive to sunburns. The snack bar serves delicious food as well as a wide variety of snacks or drinks. There is live entertainment several times per week, but the campsite is not noisy. The bathrooms are cleaned several times per day and were always clean. The campsite is next to the Dordogne river so it's easy access for swimming or canoeing. There is a lot to explore in the surrounding area such as prehistoric caves, medieval castles, canoeing, cycling trails, and walnut farms. Or, simply enjoy a slower pace of life. Highly...
