We stayed here for two nights earlier this month after a last minute search on the internet for places to stay in Loire Valley. ||||The place is not too difficult to find if you drive from the center of Saumur, up a slightly steep lane. The little B&B is nested behind a plain red iron gate. There is free parking opposite. ||||This little B&B has been a labour of love by the host, he bought the place 3 years ago and renovated it with such care and attention to details. On our second morning, he showed us before and after photos. Worthy an episode of Grand Design. ||||The B&B has three guest rooms (the owners also live on site, but this has not been an issue for us at all). Each room has its own colour schemes, and most furniture was made from reclaimed wood/materials. The owner has great taste in his choice of fabric and artworks too. It also has an amazing courtyard. The bed was very comfy, and excellent bathroom facilities too. The area is very quiet at night, so no problem sleeping.||||As other reviewers mentioned, the breakfast include coffee, yogurt, and croissants, as well as plenty of bread, butter and jam. For some, this may be basic; for us, it is more than adequate. ||||The house was also connected to a cave. The host gave us a tour on our last day. It was amazing, and we were shown the "Source", a natural spring deep inside the cave. ||||I would highly recommend this place to anyone who seeks a unique...
Read moreSituated in a narrow street just a couple of kilometers outside Saumur, this small chambre d'hote (3 bedrooms) is a great place to stay. The owner, Olivier, bought the characterful old property a couple of years ago and has renovated it tastefully but with an eye for the quirky.||||Our room - Olea - was large and nicely but simply furnished. The inventory included a huge double bed, a couple of armchairs, a low table and an antique wardrobe. A small kettle for tea and coffee making were a welcome feature. The en-suite bathroom had an efficient shower and was well supplied with towels and toiletries. A hair drier brought appreciative comments from madame!||||The property does offer wifi but it was somewhat flaky in our room, elsewhere it gave a reasonable connection. ||||Breakfast was plentiful and included yoghurt, fruit juice, different breads, croissants and locally made jams.||||A delightful small courtyard garden, again with quirky features offered a quiet place for a drink from the bar. ||||Olivier is a charming host and pleased to offer recommendations for restaurants.||||If you do stay there, ask Olivier to show you the huge cave dug way back into into the rock, an amazing experience.||||Our only reservation was that our room was not made up during our...
