A warm and friendly welcome from our hosts. A clean and well cared for apartment with kitchenette(did not use). A huge bed awaited us on the cleanest marble floor I’d ever seen. A roomy walk in shower and good sized bathroom with the toilet being separate outside the bedroom, a great idea. A very quiet and safe neighbourhood at night allows for a good nights’ sleep and steel shutters ensure the sunrise is kept outside the bedroom. A spacious dining room for breakfast so we weren’t rubbing shoulders with other guests and the freshest and most delicious baguettes and pastries(which I believe the owner went and sourced himself each morning. Beautiful butter and a tangy cherry jam for the baguettes. Museli and juices were also available and very good filter coffee rounded off the breakfast offering. |We stayed for almost a week and requested fresh towels as and when we needed them which I totally agree with trying to be environmentally conscious on minimising unnecessary laundry. Our host was a charming gentleman from start to finish and delivered us the experience we had paid for. Highly...
Read moreProbably great for a short stop on way to somewhere else. Firstly,it's not actually in Soissons but in Vauxbuin which is a short drive or long walk away. There are no bars or restaraunts in Vauxbuin, which is something I should have researched more before booking as we used it as a base for a 4 night break. I just noted that it was in Soissons (where there are plenty of places to eat/drink). Not sure if things are done differently here but our room was not serviced for the entire stay. Rooms are well apppointed but quite small and at 6ft 3in I found the shower and loo a little cramped. Nowhere really to unpack with just a few hangers but no drawers so again its more of a stopover kind of place. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality and host was enthusiastic and friendly, but we did have to supply him with a number in order to book us a taxi, he just did not seem familiar with the area. It was well located for trips to Paris, Laon and Reims, but again, I would just use as an...
Read moreWe had a one-night stay here so that we could visit the military cemeteries at Vauxbuin and Bucy-Le-Long.||||On street parking is available outside the house. We were greeted by the lady of the house who doesn't speak English but we were able to get some general directions from her using my very limited French, so that we could buy flowers for the cemetery.||||The B&B is in a residential neighbourhood, so a car is required to get to shops and restaurants.||||The room was very comfortable with a four-poster bed. Breakfast was served by the man of the house, with all guests seated at the same table (you select your preferred breakfast time the night before).||||Due to the location, this doesn't strike me as a suitable destination vacation, but is great for a stop-over or a...
