We stopped over in Soissons on the way back to the UK. We hadn't realised at the time how difficult it would be to find some where to eat, even on a Saturday night. First place we tried was fully booked, the second place didn't exist (thanks Google, for sending us on a wild goose chase). Places were closed, or just kebab shops. Just when we had about given up hope we found this place. What a find, lots of free tables but not empty. Friendly waitress and waiters (I'm guessing family run). Wide selection of food and drink, all reasonably priced. I had the Escargot to start and they were fantastic; drowning in sizzling butter(?) heavy with garlic and parsley. Next I had the Super Fruits de Mer pizza. I was very happy, it was like a seafood platter on a pizza, mussels, prawns and scallops all fighting it out on a pizza base. I just managed some sorbet, but it was definite "wafer thin mint" stage by now. Can't remember the final bill, but might have been around €50 for two meals and a 50ml carafe of house...

With reservations at 800pm, we enjoyed a very nice dinner at this restaurant in Soissons on a Saturday evening. We were seated promptly upon arrival but it took at least 10 minutes before our order for drinks were taken and menus distributed; however, we were pleasantly surprised that our orders were served much sooner than expected. Overall, we were quite pleased with each of our food orders which we found to be tasty, perfectly cooked, and quite filling. The Tagliatelles a la carbonara and the Tagliatelles au Saumon were quite tasty with the noodles perfectly cooked al dente. The Reine Pizza was also quite tasty and delicious as was the Reine Pizza and the Onglet de veau, crème de butternut aux cepes.

Although we started out with a few concerns, we ended up quite pleased with our orders and the service provided. Plenty of close by street parking available. ...

We absolutely loved this place. Very welcoming and homely. Our French is very limited, and although their English was also limited, they made every effort to chat with us, asking how we had been (we returned after such a great first experience), popped over for chats throughout, always smiling. The food was very good, and generous portions too. Delicious options and fantastic specials. There was cosy feeling here and we got the impression it was a local hotspot as many of the customers would stay for hours and chat with staff. I would recommend this place to anyone. We were staying in Berny-riviere and drove over twice...
