Would definitely recommend this hotel. ||We arrived late at night which was no problem as there’s a PIN code to access the building after hours.||There is a lift which is handy with heavy luggage if on higher floor.||Room was much bigger than I expected, we had a quad room and was more than big enough for x4 adults with two separate rooms.||Room was lovely and warm, with radiator on 24/7 which you can control. ||The pool 11am-8pm and accessed with a PIN code. The pool isn’t especially warm, but it’s good for a quick refreshing dip, the whirlpool is the bottom part of the pool (not a separate hot tub). The sauna is turned on from 4:30pm. ||Breakfast was a continental style with local jam, meat, cheese, pastries and cakes etc and a hot drinks machine.||There are only about x3 options locally for dinner, we ate at Renard most nights. Places book up quickly so book ahead. Or there is the half board option where dinner is a fixed menu served 7-8pm in the hotel. ||We walked into Chatel on one night, if buses have finished it’s a pretty long slog so wouldn’t recommend! ||Hotel is located right next to the Linga lift, so a few meters walk in the morning to catch the lift and ski to door in afternoon (Though runs not suitable for total beginners).||Top tips |Buy your lift pass online before, then collect from the Linga machine by scanning the QR code. If there’s a group of you be sure to select the group discount option. ||Pre book your ski hire online at Linga Ski Shop (next to hotel) and you’ll get a discount. ||The Fantasticable at the top of the Rochassons lift is quite a fun activity. ||The piste map is so big it’s not totally accurate, especially on the Swiss side. So be sure to pick up a local map if you’re over that way which has a zoomed in view...
Read moreThe location is excellent but the package price (it was compulsory to have either the evening meal or the buffet lunch) was a little high for what was provided. ||||As we wanted to watch a 6 nations rugby match, and the nearest place was in Chatel, and the fact that there Is only a 1 hour window at 7 for dinner, we went for the lunch option. ||||After watching rugby and having dinner in Chatel we arrived back to the hotel around 11.30, and this is when the fun really started. All lights were off, the door code we had been given did not work and there was no sign of life. We were locked out in freezing temperatures. After an HOUR of knocking on doors and windows and phoning the hotel number which was not answered, a young man appeared from nowhere, brandishing a wheel-brace! We explained our situation and it turned out he was a waiter who worked on site. He tried the door and confirmed it was faulty. He eventually phoned another member of staff who was sleeping in the hotel who woke up and let us in. ||||Next morning we explained to the management what had happened but were offered no explanation. There was no offer of a reduction in price and when we had the very basic lunch we were offered a free drink!||||For the inconvenience alone I would not recommend this place, in future I will choose one if the many owner run places, the management at Hotel le Schuss clearly didn't car about our...
Read moreWe were looking for a long weekend ski retreat with access into the Port de Soleil and found the Hotel Le Schuss, a very comfortable and reasonably priced hotel located at the foot of the piste 20yds from the Linga telecabin. ||||Having taken the half board option the breakfast was simple (bread, criossants, cereal, boiled eggs and coffe/juices and the evening meals tasty and surprsingly good with a set meal on offer.||||For a little bit more we opted for a room overlooking the piste which was comfortable and served its purpose and for those wanting a swim/sauna, facilities are onsite.||||For skiing, the Linga takes you approximately half way up the valley then a connecting chair lift takes you to the top where you can drop down into Plaine Deanse and onward to Avoriaz and surrounding areas.||||The ski shop is in the same building and residents of the hotel are offered a discount which also proved to be very reasobale. We found the staff in both the hotel and shop to be extrmely helpful.||||If you want to explore further afield there is a bus stop outside with regular free shuttles which take you to Pre La Joux or alternatively into Chatel itself.||||For convenience everything falls into place however if you are wanting to party then this is probably not the place for you.||||Excellent value for money in our view with...
