A sentence to sum up our stay would be:| "a mixed stay in a nice area".||The site has reasonably priced food that is very good quality. |The site is also well placed for the Loire Valley and geographically appealing as a pit stop for tourists moving through France.||Don't miss France's equivalent of Go Ape - 'Parc Gadawi', located 2 KM away. Don't be put off by the all-French website & all-French leaflet in campsite reception; there were plenty of English speaking staff at the attraction and compared to the UK's Go Ape, this was better, scarier (in a good way) and cheaper.||This campsite is effectively the pit-stop for tourists heading towards the South of France. ||The 'revolving door' nature of the site meant that our children never really got to make any friends as no sooner as they got to know some kids, said kids had moved on.||Main points of feedback for the owners and top tips for future tourists as follows:||1. Loved the swimmimg pools. ||2. Great football pitch & tennis court.||3. Reception allocate you a pitch on arrival but let you have a drive round incase you find something more suitable for your needs which is a great idea. |We stayed roughly halfway between reception and the shower block at the top of the site. |From 0445 every morning, we could hear the cockerel in the adventure park next door. Thankfully, our halfway line pitch along with a fan on a high setting just about drowned it out. Had we stayed in the Reception half of the campsite, that cockerel would have woken us up every morning. So make sure you stay north of the half way line!||4. Reception have a 2230hrs noise embargo. Sadly, this was seldom enforced resulting in six different evenings where I had to find the source of unreasonably loud noise after 2300hrs to request some peace. |After multiple issues over consecutive nights, Reception insisted that they would have someone on patrol that evening to ensure a good nights sleep all round.||Sadly, that was not to be and at 2330hrs, I located the 'mobile' patrol sat reading a book outside Reception, oblivious to the anti social behaviour unfolding near our pitch.||5. Two caravan loads of young children, teenagers & adults (16 in total) arrived midway through our stay. They treated the campsite to two nights of Anti Social Behaviour across a range of behaviours. I'll spare the details on here save to say Reception regretted taking the booking and were glad they only stayed 2 nights - not much comfort when you have them nearby.||6. Our gas BBQ caught fire. Thankfully no injuries despite the small gas canister exploding. |During the fire, I retrieved the fire extinguisher from the shower block, pulled out the rusty pin, only to find it didn't work.|The owner turned up after the explosion, dowsed the remaining flames with a bucket of water before suggesting that I hadn't squeezed the trigger on the extinguisher correctly.||Instead of demonstrating what it was I was doing wrong, he hurriedly took possession of the extinguisher and drove off in his golf buggy without so much as checking if we were okay and unhurt.||We left the site a full 5 days after this incident and alarmingly no fire extinguisher ever reappeared back in its place. |Aside from likely being in breach of fire regs, from a reassurance perspective, this was not good.|Despite our young child being very upset for the rest of that day, there seemed little interest from the owners post-event on how he was or any offer to lend us a cooker for the meal and BBQ that was now a heap of ashes.||By the end of our holiday, we were glad to leave and felt let down that our issues could so easily have been resolved with good customer service. We felt like we were simply too much trouble for the owners to take seriously who saw us as Euro's who'd soon be gone.||The campsite does have a lot going for it in a lovely area but the owners need to improve in three main areas if they are a real 4 star site:||1. Enforce their own noise embargo;||2. Be more proactive in taking complaints seriously and show some interest / after care;||3. Take fire safety seriously.||These things can easily be rectified if the owners choose to do so and it is my hope that Reviews such as this one are taken in the spirit intended so that future holidaymakers do not endure our frustrations on what was an otherwise...
Read moreWe have stayed here many times on our travels up and down through France. A good stop for a few days. There is a small attraction park across the road which is basic but my daughter has loved it for years, particularly the pony rides. There is a good restaurant just opposite and also a zip line park a short cycle away beside the lake which we have used many times and is always great fun. Good access to the cycle routes along the river Cher and Loire. Very friendly staff and clean facilities including heated...
