Although the room was nice, as well as the view, the welcome was not nice. We felt as if we landed up in a story of Edgar Alan Poe. The bathroom door was not closed, anyone could wath a peep show, so you had to put a towel between the door. The spiderwebs in the toilet were all the time there. In our room 3 big spiders.. The "come to eat with us" slogan, meant that you don't know what you get and if you don't want somehow they make you feel guilty. Sitting at the veranda was not private, all the time the couple was there, as if you were not free. Smoking outside was allowed but the host was putting her shirt over her nose... When we finally chat with a German couple, we had to leave and go to our rooms at 9 o'clock! The dog of the family pulled with his nails a hole in my skirt... reply: are you not having an ensusrance? The breakfast was all Lidl stuff , only the coffee was very nice. We managed ourselves to make every day a trip and at the end we...
Read moreThe Chambres-d'Hôtes Notre Paradis is a family owned guesthouse located at the D964 road in Dun-sur-Meuse, between Sedan and Verdun.||||The property is a former tailor-shop rebuilt into an atelier annex B&B. Dun-sur-Meuse is unimpressive and suffers from decline. The Meuse river is next door. At walking distance you find the remains of the railwaybridges of Le Chemin de Fer Radiale Stratégique that until 1940 served to supply the Maginot Line.||||The Dutch owners are friendly and welcoming. The guesthouse has a cozy atmosphere. Our room was OK, had a good bed and a washbasin. Windows can be opened. Shared bathroom & toilet at the corridor. All was clean.||||The breakfast is at the owners' table and very good. The B&B also offers a table-d'hôte, you dine with the owners and other guests. Weather permitting you dine outside on the terrace with view of the river.||||We had a pleasant stay at B&B...
Read moreThe Chambres d'hotes Notre Paradis do not look very inviting when you approach the front door but do not be deceived, the welcome is very warm, the rooms are very good and the hosts are some of the most enchanting people you will ever meet. The decor is a little dated, there is a shared toilet and shower but do not let this put you off. We ate with the owners for both nights and I must say that they made the trip all the more memorable. Not only is the food they serve very good indeed, there is plenty of it and the conversation never stops. Their breakfasts are also a good way to start the day. You will be at the American Cemetery in 15 minutes and the Forts of Verdun in less than 30 minutes. Staying at the Notre Paradis made a very good trip to the area all the...
