Wow. Just wow. I may be a stupid American tourist but I’m still didn’t deserve to be treated like a criminal.
I showed up at the campground at about 7:00-7:30 pm. It was absolutely pouring rain. I stopped at the hotelish area at the address listed in the website. I knocked, said hello, etc. no answer. Drove down to the campground area and saw the kiosk and maybe reception? It was dark, no lights. A sign on the window said 6 pm (I assumed returning at). It was definitely after 7. There was 1 other van in the parking lot t/campground.
I decided to park and get cleaned up then go look for the hosts again. So. While I’m literally IN THE SHOWER the camp lady starts screaming at me about how there are rules, etc. I think she called me a criminal. I was so upset!!! I knew I hadn’t checked in but no one was available (she screeched several times about how there were phone numbers like listed somewhere but…pouring rain!). I actually had to tell her I wanted to get my clothes on before I gave her shower money!!
Ok, long story short, But messed up on appropriate behavior. I was tired and it was pouring rain and I did the wrong thing. But,…if you run a campground you should be used to stupid tourists. I was in a towel begging to register and pay. And I was kicked out (after a 5 euro shower fee).
Anyway. I apologize for messing up but No one deserves the...
Read moreStay away - one of the worst camp sites I have ever seen. I have been camping all my life, easily stayed in well over 100 sites and this site is easily in the lowest 1% for quality. There was zero staff on site (this is not an exaggeration). We book to stay with a tent, with a dog and with electric. The tent area of the site has extremely limited access to electric and has signs at the entrance to the camping field saying no dogs!! There red ants everywhere which bit us multiple times just whilst we were looking around. There was a really foul smell coming from some barrels that affected a portion of the camping area. The site was generally very ugly and very poorly maintained. Just to add it is directly next to the motorway. Unfortunately for us we had booked and paid in full but I still refused to stay at this complete dump. I had to spend my money again to stay elsewhere. On that note, I paid the same price to stay at a different site, less than 10mins away and it was like an oasis by comparison. Also when we paid to stay at this dump weeks prior to arriving we were told to do so by BACS, this cannot be reversed by the bank and I suspect the site owners have deliberately chosen this payment method for this exact reason. I strongly suggest that you look at staying...
Read moreLiked: Easy access to & from main motorway (autobahn 8). Just drove in selected our spot and set up. No fuss. Superb shower facilities. Toilets and wash areas were very clean. They also provided hand soap and toilet paper which is unusual for German campsites.
Disliked: Too close to motorway (road noise is significant). Pitches were a bit yucky a mixture of mud grass and stones resembling a cat litter tray. This was also one of the most expensive campsites we stayed at on our road trip. I think we paid over €40 for our very short one night stay. We arrived late at night and drove off early next day. We used no electricity and had one shower each. We scored this high because of convenience (if travelling across Germany / Europe) it is an easy stop for rest & sleep. It is not a destination campsite despite the adverts suggesting it is next to or near the Chiemsee etc but it is clear that this is only useful for those stopping off on their way to or from somewhere else and wanting to break up the journey. For that...
