An excellent bed and breakfast establishment, with some really nice touches, such as freshly baked bread being offered for breakfast, free cards to help with parking in Bodenmais if needed, and also use of the town's swimming pool/sauna. If the weather allows, you can have your breakfast on the terrace overlooking the valley. Both owners went out of their way to help, for example making a call for us to a little restaurant three minutes away to check that hot food was still being served, and then reserving a table, as we arrived quite late in the evening. There are also special menus available for those staying at the Villa Montara at several restaurants in the vicinity, not that we actually used this facility. Rooms seem spacious, and have the necessary facilities such as TV/DVD, plus stunning views over Bodenmais from your balcony. The only downside for some people would be the steep hill leading to the house, if you were on foot, but the view of the valley is good compensation! Both owners speak excellent English, and have a good knowledge of the area; local information is thus readily available. A well-run and friendly establishment that deserves...
Read moreBodenmais is a pleasant small Bavarian town with shops, restaurants and supermarkets so staying at Villa Montana either for B&B or self catering is easy. We stayed on a self catering basis and there was plenty of equipment including a dishwasher . We asked for an iron and this was provided. The owners are very keen to show guests what to do in the area and speak good english.||The Villa Montana is well equipped and the bedrooms with TV and views across the valley and own balcony are comfortable. The large terrace with chairs and loungers overlooks Bodenmais and is a quiet place to relax and read. The Villa is situated a fair walk uphill from town but this ensures peace and quiet. However it is not suitable for wheelchair disabled as each bedroom needs to be accessed by stairs. The only equipment guests might prefer is a washing machine but the owners do arrange laundry should...
Read moreWe chose to stay at this B&B because of the good write-ups and we weren't disappointed. We were met by Uwe when we arrived - there is no reception as such so you have to phone in advance of your arrival. Uwe gave us a tour of the facilities including use of a kitchen area with fridge and microwave, as well as some brochures and tips for eating at local restaurants with which they have special menu arrangements. Breakfast was good, especially the home made bread and both Uwe and Oliver were around to give tips for the day and offer advice. Lots of walks start from the B&B. Great views from all the rooms/terraces which are tastefully decorated and which look out over Bodenmais. The village and its various shops and restaurants is only five minutes away on foot, but a bit longer coming back up the hill. Can recommend this B&B for couples looking for a bit of peace and quiet. We'll...
