I reviewed this place about 3 years ago and gave it an excellent rating... and, as we all know things can change. Well, I am very happy to report that this place continues to improve (which is hard to do when it is already excellent), and is in my opinion one of the best in this market. ||||Though the location might be a little far away from the larger towns, that is what makes this place so comfortable. ||||There are four categories in which to rate this property 1) As a hotel; 2) As a restaurant; 3) As a cafe; and 4) As an event facility. In my book it receives top scores in all.||||The hotel is absolutely quaint and comfortable and most likely some of the best pricing you will find. Some of the rooms are full-blown apartments, enabling very long stays if you like. All of the rooms have the OberFrankish classical feel and quality. ||||The restaurant and cafe are located in two separate buildings and both offer the highest level of quality in everything they offer, and again at great prices. You will have a hard time find better tasting food anywhere in the region.||||The property also offers a medium sized event hall, which is perfect for weddings and larger celebrations. I have held and attended more than a few here and have always been delighted. ||||As a family operated business, the folks that run this property have a vested interested in making their guests happy. If you are in the region and need a meal, bed, or a place to hold an event, I highly...
Read moreThe owners are very welcoming, and also very hard working. The rooms are excellent, spacious and clean, with fine amenities. The restaurant area outside provides a nice view on the surrounding countryside. Meals are typical for the area, schnitzel, pork, chicken, turkey. Take care for the “ Meerrettich”, horseradish. It is a taste that is loved in the area, not everyone is fond of that. Portions are plenty. And the beer is German, what more do you need.||Prices for both the hotel and restaurant are very inexpensive. We stayed there for approximately 70 euros per night for a double, including copious breakfast. Dinner was roughly 60 euros for 4 adults. Mind you, not big eaters, so no desert :)||R&R in the area is plenty: Nürnberg is a 45 minute drive away (what a beatiful city that is!), plenty of hiking, cycling, motorcycling opportunities.||All in all: perfect place to stay for an overnight, or for several days/week...
Read moreWe stayed for two nights in conjunction with a wedding, where the reception was held at Schrüfer. I can honestly find no real fault with the place. We had an apartment - one bedroom, kitchenette and (comfortable) sleeper couch in living room. Even a small balcony with a lovely view over the hills and fields. Spacious, comfortable, clean, pleasant. It would have been great for a longer stay, too. The food was good - hearty, homemade traditional German, just like we like whenever we are in Germany. The staff/owners were all very friendly. The wedding reception was lovely, too. Very...
